It lasted longer than most of the .com startups.

Online coffee (especially 14th & Pine) was such a lifesaver when it was 10:30 at night and you just needed a small snack and a warm, dry place to wait 20 minutes for the next bus.

Time-sensitive flight arrangements were even made there on a couple of occasions. I haven't a clue where else I would have found web access, with a full-sized browser, on such short notice.

Sad to see it pass away so suddenly.

I'm so glad you guys are starting to be less shy about linking to the CHS blog - they have a lot of good stuff and I am too damn lazy to bookmark 'em.

Let me be the unpopular person on Slog today.

I am not sorry to see OCC go under. Several years ago I went to the one on Denny and used a computer. I turned in my license to use the computer and 30 minutes later when I went to leave I found out the person behind the counter gave it to someone else and didn't even apologize but said usually when that happens the license gets returned. Turns out that someone used it to commit some identity theft and I tried to talk to the owner explaining maybe they should improve the way they track people's licenses or other ID when they used a computer. I never was able to talk to him and he never responded to my three or four e-mails. I thought that was pretty classless. It wasn't the fact the license was given to someone else by mistake..it was the "fuck you, we don't give a shit" attitude from OCC that just pissed me off.

So this news isn't really bad news for me. I think it's a little bit of karma.

I spent a lot of time at the one on Olive in my first few years on the hill. I loved all their locations, actually. They'll be missed.
7
I had a cup of coffee there.
8
There was a stretch when I used to work there a lot. It'll be missed. Good place to have a meeting too.
9
By there I meant the 14th and Pine location.

Not surprised and not that sad. Working there sucked. I had to call the cops on the drug addicts who hung out there and the clientele (students and those not able to afford their own computers, for the most part) were not very good tippers.

Allergic to beer?! What is this world coming to?

@11

I can't drink beer, either. Celiac. More common than people think. Gotta stick to wine (which I'm drinking now!) and distilled liquor.

dont forget the cider #13, we need a bigger scene in seattle!

er #12, fuck i need to go home.

Please wait...
