And many of us feel poorer this cycle too.
2
And they're just going to blame it on the economy, because they've being trying! Honest! Really! How could the gays not see that the Dems really wanted to help the them, but the Republicans just tied their hands with their minorities in the House and the Senate.
3
After the Citizens United ruling, this realm of competition sorta became obsolete.
4
I'll vote, and I plan to vote Democrat... because the alternative is unthinkable to me. But they will not get even a penny from me.
5
The donation drop gets even more dramatic when you read the link and discover that HRC was the donor for $625,000 of the $744,000 given, leaving $120,000 to come from private donors. Does anyone think the Democrats will actually get the message? Anyone?
6
Or ...

people don't have as much extra cash.

... I'm going with that one.
7
The Democrats aren't going to lose because people like the Republicans more. If they lose, it'll be because the majority of Americans don't see an appreciable difference between the two parties.
8
I'll be casting a vote for a third party or independent for my congressional district, but only because I know that the Republican doesn't have a whelk's chance in a supernova of actually winning.
9
They all just want to steal your money and to do so they need to keep the pot stirred up, hence no movement on any of the issues (gays, abortion, pot, immigration) even with majorities. Its a scam no matter who you vote for. There really isn't any difference between the two parties just the dems have a certain population scammed while the repubs have the rest scammed. They meet up and count the money together behind closed doors anyway.

@9: Oooh. Controversial. Thank you, Mr. LaRouche.
11
I'm giving the same amount as before but to more specific causes and groups like NARAL, GLSEN, and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. I pretty much ignore all emails and letters from the Democrats. They're simply too large and their priorities do not match mine.
12
your apathy is our victory.

thanks!

@8- Your Douglas Adams reference did not pass unnoticed.

@9: Suppose the Dems push through legislation explicitly providing equal protection under the law to LGBTQ people and giving same-sex marriage the same status as opposite-sex marriage, and enforce the hell out of those laws? Gays will still vote reliably Democratic because they know that the Republicans, if given power, will do whatever they can to revoke those freedoms.

I'd rather give money and vote for someone who'd actually be effective, but since the two party system doesn't work that way I'll just have to support the Democrats.

Unfortunately, I don't have much money to give so they're just going to have to settle for my vote.

re. "no one could've predicted."

It doesn't count as precognition if you make a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Please wait...
