Is Dow in trouble - where are the indep. voters landing?

Is Susan's plan brilliant? Smile, say nothing, deny everything about anything with a smile and keep the bouffant hair thing going?

Susan has tons of money, what will she put up on media? Smiles, political purity, it is time for change, you all know me, I am a good woman .....HE is the problem ... etc.

Dow be careful, do not do the Stranger "too stupid to win" mistake. She stupid like a fox...

jesus harold christ on a rivercrutch...these fuckin' right wing wackos are truly losing their minds. i can't decide if it's hilarious or terrifying...or terrifyingly hilarious.

As long as Idaho is in the business of murdering wolves, the nature loving and respecting public should stop buying potatoes from there.
Friends of Animals is calling for a boycott of potatoes grown in Idaho—the largest producer in the United States.

Let your displeasure be known, call or write to the governor of Idaho:
http://gov.idaho.gov/WebRespond/contact_…

Write/and or call the Idaho tourism office and inform them you will not spend ONE penny in Idaho until the wolf murdering is stopped:
http://www.visitidaho.org/contact/

Write and/or call the Idaho potato commission:

Inform friends, family, neighbors, relatives to not give a single penny to Idaho until they end this barbaric practice. And please spread this message far and wide to all media and bulletin boards and social websites.

Yeah! You have to be a total RACIST to not want President Barack Hussien Obama, who went to Rev. Wright's Black-Nationalist philosophy TUCC "Church" for over 20 years, and who is friends with with former Weather Underground terrorist bomber and Communist Bill Ayers, and who is advised by Van Jones, a self-described Black Nationalist and Communist who says Bush did 9/11 as an "inside job", to speak to your kids in school.

Don't worry about all that stuff Van Jones said and did, like when he declared himself to be a Communist, and like when he himself said he was a Black Nationalist, and all those times he said how he was devoted to Maoist Revolutionary Principles and signed petitions that said 9/11 was an “inside job” and stuff like that.

He did all that BEFORE he started working for Obama, so there is absolutely nothing to worry about now.

Anybody who thinks that Barack Obama would hang out with Black Nationalists and Communists is OBVIOUSLY INSANE!!!!!!
6
@5: Love your sarcasm.
7
well, i like this ELF action better than burning the horticulture center.
8
I have taken the pledge to be President Obama's servant, and I am proud that I did.

Won't you pledge to be a servant to Obama too? Take the pledge!

Anyone who does not want to take the pledge to serve Obama is a RACIST! Things will go much better for you in the future if you pledge to serve Obama.

Ashton Kucher and Demi Moore and that tattooed muscle guy from the Red Hot Chili Peppers pledged to be Servants to President Obama, and you should too! It’s Cool!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqcPA1ysS…

Serve President Obama with ALL your Heart, Soul, and Mind! If you don’t, you are RACIST!

The 25+% teenage unemployment is a gift from the grave from Teddy Kennedy and his generous (with other peoples' money) minimum wage laws.

Idaho doesn't just kill wolves-
they also slaughter ducks...

Last Thursday the
Pride of the Pacific Northwest
the Mighty Mighty Ducks of Oregon
were bullied, abused and humiliated by
Boise State.

The same thing happened last fall.
This has to stop!

Let your displeasure at duck abuse be known, call or write to the governor of Idaho:
http://gov.idaho.gov/WebRespond/contact_…

Write/and or call the Idaho tourism office and inform them you will not spend ONE penny in Idaho until the duck murdering is stopped:
http://www.visitidaho.org/contact/

Write and/or call the Idaho potato commission about defeating ducks:
http://contact.idahopotato.com/

Inform friends, family, neighbors, relatives to not give a single penny to Idaho until they end this barbaric practice of beating ducks. And please spread this message far and wide to all media and bulletin boards and social websites.

What's with all the early morning trolls?

Are they all really old people who go to bed at 7pm and wake up a 3am? That would certainly explain the extreme-right-wing-nuttery at least.
13
Yes, only extreme-right wing nuts think that having self-avowed black nationalists and communists advising the President is a bad thing.
14
@5, 8, 10 and 13:

Take your meds. The illness is showing itself...and you know how you get.
15
@12: No, what you're seeing is more angst about Obama and it's not just from stereotypical GOP types either.
16
Yes, let's all respond to the fact that Obama employs Van Jones, a self-admitted Communist and Black-Nationalist and 9/11 "Truther" (or a dumbass who does not read stuff he signs), with insults! That will really prove our point! Insults work awesomely to make facts vanish into nothingness!

Insults work even better than logical arguments! Denying the facts about reality works great too! Somebody call me a Christian and a Republican! That should work!

Or maybe not because I am actually an atheist who hates both parties, but that just makes your Seattle "progressive" brains melt because I don't fit into your neat tidy little two-party boxes.

SHEEP! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
17
If this were 4 years ago, and Bush had appointed a self-described "rowdy white nationalist" ex-convict [read : “Van Jones”] then these Obama cultists would be singing a different tune. But that is par for the course, the usual hypocrisy. We already saw the forgiveness allotted to Obama's 20 year friendship with Reverend Jeremiah "white people created AIDS" Wright and his lifetime achievement award pal Louis "whites aren't even human" Farrakhan.
18
Hey Seattle how is that black-ass-kissing thing working out for you?

What? You say blacks make up only 8% of your city but commit over half the murders there every year? No way!
19
Liberals sure did have a problem with anti-semite and white nationalist Pat Robertson, but nobody listened to them when they said he was a loon.
20
What's really funny is the Republicans, and their ever shrinking right wing base, continue to act like raging assholes toward our duly elected president and then will expect minorities to vote for them ever again. They are delusional. Ignoring facts may help them in their need to dismiss reality, but it won't help them win elections.
21
Pat Robertson does not work for this administration nor did he for any other, and is and old senile delusional fart.

Van Jones does work for Obama. He is a self-admitted communist and black nationalist.

Just the facts please.
22
It's hilarious that the loons are singling out Van Jones, an "advisor" to the President who could not be more minor if he tried, "Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the Council on Environmental Quality", as if he had anything like the status of Bush's crooks and subnormals (Alberto Gonzalez, Harriet Meirs). Make a list of Obama's real policy circle and you get, surprise surprise, a bunch of perfectly respectable white men. This is so inconvenient for the Glenn Beck crazies who show up on Slog in such quantities on the weekends., so they just ignore it, and go on bleating bugeyed about black nationalism and communism. Obama is a stone-cold centrist, not a communist, and the few remaining non-crazy Republicans know that, and are acting accordingly -- moving into the Democratic camp, like David Brooks, or desperately and pathetically throwing in their lot with the nutjobs, like Chuck Grassley.

Foam on, wingers, foam on.
23
Is Susan going to Bumbershoot?

I have questions for her to answer .... does anyone know?
24
I don't think all the trolls are Right Wingers in the way that people might expect. I'm betting that quite a few are the Ron Paul or Lyndon LaRouche types.
25
@24, yeah, that makes it a lot better.

What happens when the kook truthers run into the kook anti-truthers? I expect fistfights. And Glenn Beck's head to assplode.
26
Fnarf, you forgot Cheney and Ashcroft.
27
Whoa, 26 comments into this discussion, and still the raccoon half-eaten by a homeless dude sits there in the parlor room like the proverbial elephant.
28
Right wingers on here - your screaming intentionally twisted partial truths is great fodder for cable news in need of something to report on that has no real depth, but it isn't helping you. So please keep it up.

A year ago at this time our country was going to end because we weren't drilling for oil in environmentally sensitive areas (until one of your Republican heroes in Florida came out against drilling off their coast too). Prior to that, the gays and their agenda were going to going to eat our children or something (until you found out your top man was actually a meth snorting bottom man). Then it was Obama's birth certificate, then the dreaded socialism. This week it's Obama wanting to actually speak to school children (which lots of R's have - remember Quayle's "poatatoe" spelling, or Bush reading to kids while Cheney ran the govmunt during the 9/11 attacks?) and his 'radical' black nationalist ties. Next week when everything you say has once again been ignored, you'll be on to some other conspiracy.

In the meantime, this administration is fixing healthcare, an issue which truly threatens to bankrupt our nation, works to save the world's environment, fix our economy, get us out of the horrible wars Bush started, and get the peace process in the middle east back on track after being completely botched by Bush.

Of course these are real issues, issues the Republicans have no plans for, no authority on because they botched them so poorly when they were in charge of both the white house and congress, so, the R's are relying on people like you guys to try to disable Obama from passing his agenda.

In the end, The R's will wind up with even fewer supporters than you have now, so please, by all means keep it up. Make crazy assertions based on half truths that can easily be debunked. Every time it happens the right deservedly loses credibility. And the hateful racist and homophobic shit you spew will turn off another generation to the R's. You'll soon be only the party of old white people in the South. And this country will continue to move forward under truly radical leaders like Obama.

29
Like most liberals in the real world (as opposed to the imaginary liberals in the right wing dementia) I never thought Obama was the savior of the nation: I just knew he would be better than Bush, and certainly better than that pathetic team the GOP put together. In that regard, he has not disappointed me. Do I wish he'd be more of a liberal? Sure, but I'll take what I can get - and Obama is just a foot in the door.

As a white guy of A Certain Age who looks fairly conservative and boring, I am under no allusions that 90% of the anti-Obama hysteria is nothing more than racism: After all, he hasn't done anything really provocative or controversial - everything these moonbats are criticizing him for is either made up (the whole Marxist/Islamic/Birther crap), or small stuff that they exaggerate (OMG! He doesn't wear a tie! He wants to talk to children!)

For example: I work with an 81 year old woman who should have been forced to retire years ago. She keeps talking - during work hours - about how we are in a dictatorship, and how our entire way of life is changing. She gets this crap from her church, who are undoubtedly only interested in her tithing (Although she's also a cheapskate, so who knows how much they get). This woman knows nothing about the world, has no real political convictions, and although she would never admit it, she doesn't like the president because he is black. What other excuse could you use for the idea that this is a dictatorship? She just doesn't like the idea of a black man leading the country.

As far as this Van Jones character "advising" the president: Who cares? Intelligent people - and I have no doubt Obama is intelligent - seek advice from all sorts of people, and usually end up ignoring most of it. There's nothing wrong with being exposed to different viewpoint, and I am happy to have a president who is willing to do that.

So what if Jones is a "black nationalist"? Black folks have a much more legitimate axe to grind against this country than white supremacists - who tend to be taken much more seriously, or at least given much more media time. What's wrong with hearing that perspective on things?

As far as the charges of "Communism" goes: Why does the right insist on digging up that rotting corpse? That boogeyman didn't work when the USSR was alive and well. Why should it work now?

Well thought-out conservative criticism of Obama would be interesting to read. But this neurotic, yappy, melodramatic hand-wringing is just a bore. Right now, Obama is basically Clinton without Monica. What's not for a conservative to love?

30
I want Catalina Vel-DuRay to be president.
31
Only if you'll chair my death panels, Fnarf....
32
you girls' concern for the right is touching...

- sniff ! -

but don't worry about us,
we're really doing fine, thanks.

so far Obama's term has gone way better than we could have ever allowed ourselves to hope...
Obama's policies have pretty much mirrored Bush (not that Bush's were that great but historians will note that Obama's actions ratified everything Bush had said)- sure, Obama has thrown a few rhetorical crumbs to the gays and looney left but no action to back it up. This angers the left and weakens support for Obama and the Democrap Brand Name for the 2010 midterms.
HealthCare has been a bigger fiasco than could have been imagined- the debate is totally sidetracked, Obama has lost 20 points and severely disillusioned his base and has yet to lay a glove on the gop. The ranting loonies are absorbing all the ire and media oxygen. (slog equates the loonies with the gop but are mistaken- they are no more the gop than Act-Up was the Democratic Party)
The right is actually feeling pretty good about life.
Obama is beating himself at every turn, if we just sit tight there will be some nice gains in the midterms.
33
oh please...your party is dying and YOU KNOW IT. you can't win with only old white people, genius.

let me put it another way...you got CRUSHED in the election last year by a (mostly) black man named BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. yeah, you're doing just fine.
34
@11:

Hoo! Ha! BSU!
Ha! Hoo! BSU!

I give you my permission to use this or substitute your own university's initials.
35
I am heartened to see so many patriots coming out of the closet and speaking truth to the power of The Dear Leader, Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Hussein Obama).

The fact that an America Hater like Van Jones is able to be even dog catcher is testament to the deep and abiding hatred and anger for America Barack Hussein Obama and his minions have. This is easily one of the angriest administrations ever.

And the most dangerous.

And the most secretive (Obama's college and health records are still sealed, as is his all important birth certificate).

This black man is trying to destroy America, and only America traditionalists can save it from the clutches of this angry black man.

Barack Hussein Obama could learn a lot from Thomas Sowell, JC Watts, Clarence Thomas, and Larry Elder.
36
@35 - http://sarahpac.com/ nice.

Conspiracy theorists will continue to rant, Fox news will continue to support the ranting because it gets great ratings, and in the end, no one will be there to vote for your candidates. It's all good.

Winning elections takes building a coalition of different, often times opposing, groups. Reagan did this well, and that's when the religious right was brought in, and when the R party was built first on moderates, then with the more fringe groups. Unfortunately for the R's, the religious right fringe turned out to be crazier than they ever imagined, and now the fringe runs the party. This results in moderate, non-religious candidates like McCain getting slaughtered in the general election because the right doesn't come out and support. The alternative for the R's is to allow the crazies like Huckabee to win. Huckabee couldn't get 35% of the vote in the general if he did.

We saw this happen in Washington State politics, where the religious right took over earlier than in the national party, hitting a peek with the gubernatorial candidacies of John Carlson and Ellen Craswell, both of who got whipped by liberal candidates. Now the Republicans in Washington try to run as moderates, but still get whipped because moderate voters just won't identify with the party of religious hate spewing radicals.

I assume we'll see more Republican activist Hutchison supporters coming on to liberal message boards like this in hopes of getting some moderates around here backing her. Bring it on. Your crazy rants will do anything but that. So, more crazy rants in support of the fringe candidate Susan Hutchison please. Let's here more racist homophobia. You are the people Hutchison will be appointing to jobs in the government if she wins so let's get to know each other now.
37
@36 - PS - I agree with you that Susan Hutchison is the Sarah Palin of King County. Let's please both continue to push this idea out there.
38
While I am personally uncomfortable with any political leader demanding direct access to my children, I must nonetheless agree that the "debate" over this issue has been beyond ridiculous. If Obama's real goal was to make the entire Republican party implode in a raging fireball of gibbering, spittle-flecked lunacy, then Mission Accomplished, Mr. President.

And no one should have to resort to eating raccoons, not with all those juicy little squirrels running around. A friend from Appalachia (who grew up during the Depression) once explained to me that scavengers are only good to eat after they've been kept in a cage for several weeks and fed table scraps. I'm beginning to get the feeling that the knowledge he imparted will prove increasingly useful during the current economic "recovery."
39
Furcifer, one of my Aunts and Uncles owned a bar in a small town in Nebraska for many years after they retired from farming. My Aunt would cook all sorts of weird road killy sorts of stuff for their Saturday Night Dinners at the bar, which was a major event in town.

That was a long time ago, but I know we had squirrel, rabbit, and one other thing (Badger? Possum?) on several occasions, in addition to moose, buffalo and deer - guys would bring it in, and she would cook it up.

My Aunt looked like a Far Side lady, and was very funny. Golly, she was a good cook. And she did it all on a crappy old electric stove.

33
have you seen a tree or shrub after it is pruned?
a pitiful scrawny sight.
but it comes back fuller and stronger than before.
and in fact, without periodic pruning it will choke itself off and decay and die a slow lingering diminishing death.
periodically the gop is and has been pruned.
it is not a bad thing- in fact it is a good thing.
dead wood and obsolete ideas and tired people clipped and thrown on the bonfire.
making way for the new and strong.
out of the greatest trials and defeats come the strongest leaders.
Reagan.
Lincoln.
2012?
the gop deserved to lose in 2008.
and especially to lose congress in 2006.
it was good for the nation.
it was especially good for the gop.
we will be back.
faster.
bigger.
meaner.
stronger.
sure...
we're in the 'wilderness' right now-
out of the limelight.
out of power.
out of favor.
camping is good for the soul.
fresh air.
clean water.
clears the mind.
renews the soul.
we'll be back.
we're not far away.
America will be calling, soon.
we'll be ready...

(cue the 'Rocky' music)

37
Susan is nice.
Maybe not quite as boinkable as Sarah but not bad at all for a lady her age.
She'll do just fine.
42
If ladies like Sarah and Susan are the best you can do @41, you really shouldn't bother with politicians - there's loads of places you can go to find ladies like that: The bar at Canlis (if - and only if - you have money. Those ladies have built-in BS detectors) or, if you are more middle-class, just about any bar in Bellevue in the mid-afternoon until happy hour starts (A lot of them have to get home and start dinner)

Good Luck!
43
gee Cat, don't be mean.
For all you know
ladies like Sarah and Susan
are not "the best I can do";
they may be
"way way better
than I could ever hope to do
in my wildest dreams.."

let a guy dream...
44
Not meaning to be mean 43, just helpful. I'm sure you're a very attractive man, in your own special way.

45
The high unemployment rate of teenagers has nothing to do with the current economy. It is due to the fact I have to fire the useless bastards after only three days due to laziness, rudeness, and dishonesty. Seriously, high school students and drop-outs, if a non-English speaking, mostly illiterate illegal immigrant from a third world country can do your job better than you, don't expect the corner office, a company car, benefits, or even a living wage. You are mostly useless....except perhaps as Soylent Green. And when I tell you to clean the toilets or mop the floor, don't roll your fucking eyes and say, "But, but....I'm a cashier!". If there's no fucking customers in the store, you aren't cashiering...you're doing other shit that needs to get done. Capice?
46
In ten years I have yet to hire anyone under 30 who was worth shit. The youngsters think a job is a TV type thing, where you get paid for being and spending a lot of time on your outside social needs.

Work ethic has departed, and, it is not a pay thing. They do not know how to work, that simple.

Coming in late, and the excuse is I was out partying last night, as if the boss should give a shit. And they schedule tons of shit on hard work days, haircuts, shopping, etc - when it is not related to the job, could be done on the weekend, after work of get off the clock on Fri. afternoon early.

Que Sera Sera

47
Along the lines if 45 and 46, one of the reasons I carved out a decent career as an office temp is because I had an actual work ethic, actually did what I was asked to do and came to work everyday unless I was deathly ill. That alone made me better than 99% of the drones my clients employed. I didn't do anything other than whatever tasks I was given. That's also how I learned all the skills I did: I seized those chances to do new things instead of making excuses not to.

Sadly, it's an illustration of the lack of work ethic of our youth and culture in general, rather than some illustration of any greatness on my part. All I offered was competency and a work ethic.

Please wait...
