Booo. At this point I would vote for Charles Mudede over Nickels for Mayor. Nickels and Sims need to go spend the next 50 years on a Canadian beach where they can't wilfully harm an entire city with their stupidity.
2
It makes him seem like a big pussy, but I can't really blame him for not wanting to go up against the nickels war chest in a city full of crusty old liberals who vote on name recognition.

I wish Steinbrueck would run

Worst news all week. This makes happy about Monday's potential "Sec. Gregoire = Gov Owens = Gov. Elect Rossi" scenario. I would do *anything* to get rid of Nickels. At the absolute minimum, can we at least have a valid opponent? fuuuuuuuuckk....

Nickels will get a third term. I suggest we all suck it up.
6
Right. Because Conlin is much better suited to be a strong check on Nickels' power from the Council and we need four more years of Richard's unique brand of process, inclusion and thoughtful waiting.

I am making the "L" shape with finger and thumb across my forehead.

It's too bad we haven't heard yet from Steinbreuck or other candidates.

No way I'm voting for a developer.

@7 - Yeah, cuz developers build the evil homes we all live in and evil spaces for the evil stores we all shop in and evil bars and restaurants we all eat in drink in. I forgot that you live in an igloo and eat raw fish you catch with your hands, Will.

In case you have not been paying attention the last 2 years Conlin has been doing back flips to appease developers and has fought several Nickels efforts to get developers to pay for growth.

Conlin worked hard to weaken the Mayor's Incentive Zoning ord. that requires developers to contribute the public amenities.

He single handedly trashed an LID for the Dravus rezone that would have required the developers to fund the infrastructure necessary to serve the new density.

He has been working hard to rezone industrial land for the benefit of condo developers and Henry Leibman. So long to family wage industrial jobs.

If you think Conlin is some crusader against developer interests you just are not paying attention. All I can hope is that now that he has given up on a run for Mayor he will come back to his senses.

@9 - see @8.

What no love for Richard after three terms? You'd think after a dozen years in City Hall he might as many comments on his reelection bid.
The outpouring of apathy says not running for mayor was a good call and that running again might prove a bid to far.

Please wait...
