Portland duo Golden Retriever have a new video—directed by former Seattle musician/visual artist Jamie Potter (Brother Raven)—for the excellent "Serene Velocity," which will appear on their Thrill Jockey debut album titled Occupied With The Unspoken (out July 24). "Serene Velocity" grandiloquently arcs into the firmament with Jonathan Sielaff's bass clarinet sounding like Robert Fripp's eBow guitar circa Evening Star and Matt Carlson's articulate analog synth grinding and evoking Tuvan throat singing with mesmeric urgency. This is a momentous, ecstatic composition that makes you feel much more important than you actually are. There can never be too many pieces of music like that in the world, right?
You can download "Serene Velocity" after the cut.
