That was great. You and Jake are so lucky to be a part of such an inspirational family.
You married into an amazing family. I love seeing good things coming from Utah.
1: Thanks, and we know how lucky we are. I don't think any of us expected the avalanche of evolution instigated by the double-whammy of our marriage and the Mormon's multi-million dollar push to pass Prop 8. (I'm typically a pessimist, and this is teaching me a lesson about giving people the chance to surprise you. Jake's mom rules so hard I can hardly stand it.)
You've got some great in-laws, David.
David, an amendment from what I understand can not be retroactive. It can only prevent new marriages, not undo current marriages. Do I have that understanding correct? If so, there will most surely be a law suit bringing this situation to light.
I
What a wonderful clip. Was really touching to see parents expressing their feelings on the matter. Please let them know how much it is appreciated that they're willing to talk as they did.
I spent my mid-to-late teen years in Salt Lake City, where a close friend of mine in high school, from a "good Mormon family" committed suicide due to his depression over sexual identity issues. It's a tough place to be a gay kid. My 26 year old son is gay and living in San Francisco - what a difference! Congratulations on finding a gem of an in-law family in Utah; I wish Gordon's family had been as accepting.
David & Jake, your family rocks. I loved hearing from them and I cannot applaud them enough. Not only for supporting you two, all parents should do that period, but for doing it so openly in the Mormon community. True Christian spirit, I say.
Wow, you married into a great family. That was a great video.
What @5 said.
You can't undo contracts.
I'm so glad your in-laws have been open minded and are coming around.
Congratulations on your marriage and I'm happy that you are blessed with a loving and supportive family. I'm here in Cali waiting for the election results to keep coming in re: Prop 8. Right now the Yes side is ahead, but I'm hoping that will change as more precincts report. Keep the faith.
This video almost made me cry. Wonderful. You and your husband are so lucky.
