These blocks are awash in red and blue, and there are riot cops at the perimeter, but everyone's drinking in the street--PBR, wine, bottles of champagne--and the police don't care. There are young men taking off their shirts. Someone climbs a lamppost, stands on a WALK/DON'T WALK sign on one side and something else on the other side, and starts waving an American flag. There are fireworks, there is a rousing rendition of the national anthem led by a drag queen on the roof of Neighbours...
