I'm not worried about getting shot, I'm not going to the rally because of too many damned people!

Yes, of course... but, if someone gets shot at the rally or in the park, I think that your case will be harder to make.

There may be stray shootings on the South and West Sides where it is traditional to shoot off guns in celebration. But the downtown mood should be pretty safely jubilant (in a win); Ground zero for Civil War II (in a loss).

I will be watching the returns near I-94, in case I need to make a break for Wisconsin for safety's sake.

Sorry, I'm correcting your title.

Face it, the rest of the world doesn't want to live in a Police State like the US.

And, yes, that includes RUSSIA, where you have a lower chance of being murdered or imprisoned than in the USA.

I'm pretty sure that Memphis is the murder capital of the U.S. Right in the middle of the heartland, of course.

@4 - We're on pace to have 500 murders by the end of the year, higher in absolute numbers than New York and LA. We're #1! We're #1!

Chicago may be the murder capital, but Grant Park??

Yeah, but I expect there will be about a bazzillion cops around Grant Park tomorrow night. At least a few more than any other typical Chicago night, for sure.

Again, for those unfamiliar with Chicago geography: Grant Park is centrally located, and easy to get to by car or public transportation. That's why we have such great public events there: Blues Fest, Jazz Fest, even, dare I say it, Celtic Fest (palest event of the year, by far). And this makes it easy for gang-banger Americans, who otherwise stay in their own turf, to meet and greet one another on the way to or from Grant Park. Dan is right: someone's gonna get gunned down tomorrow night, probably within a mile or so of where Obama will be. The same thing happened at the Taste of Chicago, though, so don't panic.

i thought memphis was the crime capital and either baltimore or camden was the murder capitol. someone should set us all straight

Chicago will be the flat-rate murder capital: most killings. If you correct for per-capita, then Memphis wins.
