RSS icon Comments on Today in Conservatives

The last two comments pretty much describe my exact feelings after the 2004 election.

Also, I know I'm not the first to observe this, but it's insane to me that somehow the conservatives think that as Democrats, we don't know the true meaning of 9/11 or we have "forgotten". Fuck you, conservatives. It is liberal New Yorkers who bore the brunt of 9/11 and it is those of us (mostly liberals) who live in large cities that have to live with its aftermath.

Ah, the wing-nuts. At least we can still depend on them for a good chuckle.

Enjoy the wilderness muthafuckahs - it'll give you a chance to find out just exactly how self-reliant and independent y'all really are.

And for those conservatives who are actually concerned with what's best for our country, and not just your own little enclave, the door is open - all you have to do is suck it up and step through.

Brilliant:

"The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for the Democratic primary debates, Obama was recorded saying, "I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me ... answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

Don't miss the unsanity over at Larry Johnson's squirrelshit-crazy "blog", NoQuarter, as they/he still try to somehow rationalize why giant gains by Democrats last night are a net loss for "progressives" who supported Hillary before throwing support to, uh... McCain? I'm not even sure what/who he or they are weeping for. It's like watching a gay pastor pretending to love kissing his shrewish wife.

Wow, check out the last line in the last link posted (Suicide), "In the meantime, those of us who saw this coming will get a few laughs. . . . Uncle Sam has just become Uncle Sambo."

Stay classy, Hal Turner.

from the Hal Turner link --
"America committed national suicide tonight because we turned control of this nation over to inferior people who, in the history of the world, have never created or maintained the kind of advanced nation that we White people created here."

Holy Shit man.....
all i can hope is that the generation growing up knowing a black, capable, intelligent, inspiring man can be president will stop people from thinking the above statement.

im not religious but good lord, is this guy real?

An old (and no longer) acquaintance of mine wrote: "This is the worst day in the history of the United States. Enjoy America's Hitler, everyone."

To all of them, all I can say is this:

We will drag you kicking and screaming to your salvation- and in the end, you will thank us.

I have a classmate whose head is exploding all over Facebook today. He changed his profile picture to an image of the American flag with a hammer and sickle where the stars should be, but then he promptly changed it to a Revolutionary War-era flag with 13 stars. He's calling for the South to re-secede. Let's break free! he says. Except he's from Chicago and is going to teach in CO next year? Hm.

I'm torn between gleefully cackling at his internets tantrum and weeping over the fact that he's a classmate in my history MA program and still can't tell the difference between communism, democratic socialism, and regulated capitalism.

Wow, it's expected, but they really are butthurt this morning. You guys had control of the country for eight years, and what did you do with it?

julie @1 thank you. as a resident of new york city it pisses me off to no end that conservatives try to own 9/11. those idiots talk about remembering and never forgetting, but then they forget who actually lost their lives that day and who is still dealing with sick citizens today. new york's vote went overwhelmingly for obama, we are liberal here, we know what 9/11 means and what real terrorism looks like. anytime some asshole tries to tell you about 9/11 and how you've forgotten because you vote liberal, tell them to shut the fuck up.

@16,

They're like children who purposely destroy their toys then throw a tantrum when those toys are taken away.

So for conservatives a "presidential mandate" is legitimate only when it applies to tickets they support? When their ticket gets spanked both in the popular vote and the electoral college, it's suddenly the end of Western Civ?? Wow, that is a serious disconnect between consequence and mature thought; that's beyond people in 2004 and 2000 halfheartedly threatening to move to Canada after George W. Bush got installed in the White House. If you know any conservatives, you should check on them in the next week or so.

You know what's gonna be even better? Pictures of them actually crying after Obama gets reelected by a larger margin in 2012.

I was part of the crowd of flag-waving American citizens, many of us vets, shouting "USA! USA! USA!" after we won with Obama last night.

I've heard some conservatives are threatening to leave the country. I feel like we can't really get on them too much for that one, but I've been having a hard time trying to figure out where they'd move to. Not Canada, obviously.

@13: I think it's time to get a two-man saw and start at Texas, work our way across the Mason-Dixon line to North Carolina or so and kick the whole damned thing south into the Gulf of Mexico. Think of what this country could be without the south dragging us down. Anyone who wants to escape first would be more than welcome to join us in the remaining states.

Freepers are so cute when they're rabid.

To the ones who want to secede, may I suggest a Trail of Tears to Oklahoma? It'll be a third-world country within weeks.

Wow, the one that starts with "Congratulations, moonbats" goes on to say: "Now the Republican Party knows it must either purge itself of RINO mediocrities like Bush and McCain or go the way of the Whigs".

First: what the hell are they thinking calling Bush a RINO? The neo-cons loved Bush in 2000, almost as much as they loved Palin this year. That's the biggest "No True Scotsman" fallacy since Marxists disavowed Stalin.

Second: the Republicans were nothing less than the renegade Whigs who opposed slavery and supported a move forward in civil rights. After the Whigs disbanded, the racist remnants went into hiding or became the Dixiecrats. Does this mean that the Strom Thurmond wing of the Republicans is going into hiding, and the Log Cabin Republicans are going to take over? If not, the Whig comparison is a poor one. If so, woohoo!

and this is a direct quote from someone from my myspace whom I removed after reading this retarded bulletin:
"I hate our president, he is a fucking sand idiot. Get ready for the worst life, something you thought Americans could never have."
It kinda takes me back to the years when people first started trashing Bush and Repugs were like "He's the president, show him some respect."... Well, what now bitches? Practice what you preach.

They are so pissed right now and it's GLORIOUS! Sweet glory. But yeah, there's no need to argue, we'll just have to wait til he proves himself, which I'm pretty sure he'll do.
