Syrian Invasion Whiplash: Who isn’t pissed?
Syrian Troops Shifting: Syrian troops amass along Lebanese border.
US Bombs Pakistan: Again.
Wallingford Rape: Bail set at $1 million.
Central District Drive-By: One dead, one wounded.
Cheetahs On A Plane: Portland to Atlanta.
Sexy San Francisco: Measure to decriminalize prostitution in the city.
‘Bamarazzi: Annoying reporters.
Pit Bulls Suck: They really do.
3 strikes is appropriate for rapists. never come back, skanda.
Pit bull owners are even worse than their stupid dogs. The assholes who live two doors down have a pit bull that they frequently let run free. On Friday he came into my yard and attacked one of my cats. The cat got away, thankfully, but this is the third time in as many months that dog has gotten into my yard.
The sad thing is there isn't a fucking thing I can do until the dog kills a pet or hurts a person. Even though the owner is breaking the law by not restraining his dog, neither the cops nor animal control will take action before the inevitable happens. The owner just laughs when neighbors ask him to keep it tied up. He says that he hopes it kills all of the cats in the neighborhood.
OK, that's enough ranting for a Saturday morning. I'm just really frustrated with the situation and the lack of (legal/ethical) recourse.
Laws against prostitution make me so angry. So many of the people who are for them declare that prostitution should be illegal because prostitutes are battered, exploited, and abused, and yet their answer to these women being battered, exploited, and abused is to PUT THEM IN JAIL. What the hell? Yes, because when you are mistreated, you should be punished for it. You were raped? Off to jail! Someone stole your wallet? We’ll prosecute you in court! You have a stalker who has been repeatedly harassing you? Three strikes and you’re out!
Simply put, these people’s assertion that prostitution needs to be make illegal to protect women doesn’t match up with how they are treating the women involved. If these people really believe prostitutes are victims, then they ought to be treating prostitutes like victims, not like criminals.
@2 Obviously I would never suggest doing this, but I know someone who had a similar problem with a neighbor's dog. They used a wasp nest sprayer to spray the dog, the cans you buy that will spray 20 or 30 feet. Soon the owner quit letting the dog run loose because of the strong chemical smell the dog came home with. Certainly, with a pit bull I'd make sure that the dog couldn't get at you when you sprayed it.
"Senator Obama, clearly annoyed, removed his sunglasses to stare down the crew, who stepped back."
Don't look into his eyes! Nooooo!
Aaron Pickus - in the future, if there is a incident in the CD, link to the Central District News site and not the lame ol PI.

barack obama said change...yo...you can do it too.
@#2:
Doesn't sound like anything some oleander leaves stuffed in a roast wouldn't handle.
You forgot to mention the ad sent out by the Yes on Prop 8 fanatics that show Obama's support for amending the CA Constitution
The ad can be seen here:

I am watching CNN recap the candidates' recent speeches on campaign stops. Palin is on now - for the love of God, I hope that after Tuesday I will never have to hear her nails-on-chalkboard voice ever again.
@8: Aren't you the one saying just a week or so ago that he has a nice fat comfy lead and can afford to spend his remaining campaign funds endorsing a state ballot measure that has exactly nothing to do with the office of the Presidency? Do you still feel that way -- he's got it in the bag, nothing to worry about, might as well throw all his efforts into supporting the cause that you care most about?
Yeah, he should make an add supporting marijuana legalization too. 'Cause after all, it's the right thing to do, isn't it?
We will be lucky, incredibly lucky, if we end up on Wednesday with a slightly-left-of-center Administration and not a crazy-as-hell-right-wing Administration. That is the most we can hope for. Baby steps.
Believe it or not, saying you don't support something doesn't mean you believe the Constitution of any given state should be amended to make it illegal. For example, I do not support people having unprotected sex with people they don't know. Does this mean I think it should be against the law for people to have unprotected sex with people they don't know? Of course not.
Would I be happier if our next president full-hearted supported gay marriage? Yes. Is there a viable candidate who will full heartedly support gay marriage? No.
@ #2 Kerry,
My mother resolved her pit bull issues with a hot dog and d-con rat bait.
Is it too much to ask that if you *publish* in English, you be able to *write* in English?
Some people are soooo stupid....
I know it is a difficult read - maybe someone could help you - but read the first 50 pages of the decision by the CA Supreme Court regarding marriage rights and maybe you will understand that Prop 8 has much more to do with preserving citizenship than it does with marriage itself.
But then again, there are an awful lot of chicken shit Democrats cowering behind their chicken shit candidate that won't say anything against stripping rights from a minority group.
It would to be too inconvenient...too difficult...too much to ask that a President understand the importance of equal protections.
But then again, maybe you are too stupid (or is it too scared) to understand what equal protections are or how they were established.
By the way, Obama has a 20% lead in CA and the No on 8 campaign is in a virtual dead heat. Obama's campaign is swimming in cash that it can't possibly spend between now and Tuesday.
He can afford to respond to his words being used against him...if he has any courage at all he will. But I'm afraid that he is just as weak as his supporters are.
Watch out! The Repugs are out in force here on Ye Olde Slog. GAWD give me strength...
Pit Bulls do NOT suck. Clearly this person should not have had any animals in his home. It is irresponsible to own any pet that is not spayed or neutered. Most all stories about dog mauling lead back to the owners negligence. If a parent has an A-hole kid you don't suggest taking care of the problem with a hot dog and rat poison.
You stupid fucking Seattle hipsters think you're all so fucking hip just because you're hip. Well, listen here, punk-ass hipsters, I can see right through you. So there!
Go Knuckledragger/Cousinfucker in 2012!
Comments are closed on the address poll? Really?
Remember kids, it's perfectly safe to leave your 62 year old dementia-suffering father alone with three unneutered male dogs of any breed except for the following breeds, which suck:
The more you know!
Oh, Fnarf @18, I think they're just excited about their 1359 (and counting) comments on the original article, and so they'd rather you add to that number rather than respond to it here.
I don' think they're going to top "Is Your Son a Computer Hacker?" though (5913 comments, 11015 poll votes).
@14: I get it that you care a lot about gay marriage. So do I, but there are other issues. It would be awesome if some perfect candidate could come in and right this wrong and win your battle for you in one fell swoop, but it ain't gonna happen. You can call me and whoever else all the nasty names you want, but it ain't gonna happen. So you're gonna have to keep fighting for a while longer.
Are there any other issues you care about?
I see _The Stranger_ has already pulled down the names of their staff from this list.
I'm not sure I understand -- it's OK to publish personal information about others, but publishing _your_ personal information is wrong?
How does that work again?
Publish personal details of Joe the Plumber - check
Publish the personal addresses of people supporting John McCain - check
Publish the personal details of _The Stranger_ staff - TOTALLY WRONG AND FASCISTIC
It's all so clear to me now.
And now Dan's home address is all over the wacko rightwing blogosphere. I'm not sure that's the result they wanted when they pulled this little stunt. But then it's all about the attention, right?
only now, too late, do you finally see the wisdom of what I've been advocating here for months -- to close all posts on the site to commenting
In other doggie news: http:californiajuryblog.com/2008/2008/10/disneyland_dog_attack_victim_S_1.html (Please note biter was a non pit)
The pit bull story seems vauge and clearly the 62 year old was not being cared for properly if his caregivers left him alone with unaltered dogs and a dog in estrus...still tragic...but PREVENTABLE.
My NON BITING pit bull is in this months Seattle Metroploitan Mag on page 29...she is one sexy bitch...one of us has to be.

@2
sue him for trespass and nuisance and strict liability.
How is it that we got to 3:00 on Saturday and Jonah has not yet posted on the Jim Moore article in the PI about Seahawk players' support for Obama?
According to county property records, available online, the address given for Dan Savage is incorrect, and has been since 2000. The only thing stupider than a right-wing wacko attacking Dan's family at home is a right-wing wacko attacking some random stranger under the impression they were attacking Dan.
Fnarf, a few of the nuts on the now non-existant Hell House comments section got it right. So the fact is that some random innocent person can be terrorized by nutjobs going to the wrong address, but the correct one is floating around the rightwing blogosphere, too.
@16
Sounds good to me. Let's spay/neuter all pitbulls. No ability to reproduce will make the pitbull problem go away.
Was I a dick for posting Kileys address? - the information was available online at whitepages.com - search for yourself.
@2
Unfortunately, you will find that the majority of pitbull owners have that attitude. His irresponsibility has placed you in a position of danger. You can either take preemptive action to avoid future harm or do nothing and suffer the consequences of inaction. The dog owner created this situation and obviously has no concern for what harm his dog may cause.
Where is PopTart?
@2 Call AC EVERY DAY. NO ONE Should let a dog roam free. You could prevent tragedy by calling nonstop. I don't know where you live, but King County is becoming more pro-active in their policies.
If, by chance you live in King County PLEASE consider attending the next King County Council Meeting that addresses AC issues and speak about the lack of response you have gotten..THEY NEED TO KNOW THIS. (Or attend wherever you do live)
Rather than complaining, you have an opportunity to effect change in a positive way.
If you vote for oboma you are A) stupid B) a communist C) a racist
