Forget the national anthem. It's fine. Can we please get rid of the appalling Washington State Bird, the willow goldfinch? It is one of the most hateful, disgusting animals on Earth. What other creature subsists on a diet primarily made up of its own fecal matter and the murdered carcass of it's own parents? What other creature reacts to extreme danger by stabbing it's own eyes out on a nearby twig or branch? Is there a more irritating cackle than the rape cry of the willow goldfinch? That's right: the willow golfinch rapes, rather than courts, it's mate.

If they absolutely had to pick a piss-yellow rapist bird to represent Washington, could they have at least picked a native piss-yellow rapist bird? The little bastards aren't even from Washington.

We need a new state bird NOW, and we need to exterminate the yellow goldfinches presently befouling our lands.

Ok, but remember, Obama is this uptight educated Ivy League lawyer.

Would he really be doing any of this kind of stuff?

Seems to me he spends his time reading and thinking and working with those who really need help.

Maybe some of you should start using your energy in the same way.

What amazes me is how this was happening all over the country - the countdown to the West Coast polls closing, the taking of the streets, singing the National Anthem. 8 years of pent-up frustration cathartically released in one glorious night.

the eagle.

Why don't we just seize the high moral ground, intense branding, total fucking good will and appoint the bald eagle as our State Bird? California has Arnold and Maria ("when can you start?") -- we could have soaring eagles in our ads for tourism in Washington State with great "Over Washington" shots.....

Even Audubon called it the "Washington Eagle."

And this leads me to the issue of our state band. We've got to replace Brad Owen's crappy little antidrug band, they are so Reno police-like.....

hmm state bird eagles....state band....???

Why not the band called......The _ _ _ _ _ _?

Standing in this big crowd of commie queer hippie liberals, led in the singing of the national anthem by a drag queen made me realize what it's like to feel genuinely patriotic. I think being in that situation might have made a Toby Keith-type patriot's head explode.

I'm so jealous. I rode around Denver at around 10pm or so looking for a similar scene. Aside from isolated handfuls of supporters, there was nothing like this in the entire city. And I did like a friggig 5 square mile victory lap, honking my admittedly meager scooter horn at every imaginable intersection. Nothing doing.

You'd think we'd have gone more apeshit especially since we just went from red/purple to almost solidly blue.

Oh well. Sigh.
