Wasn't there some article recently linked by Slog, in which a very sensitive pundit (a punditess if I remember) lambasted Obama for taking time out to see his Grandma, and said that a "real" grandma would have told Obama to come see her after he the election is over? I'm paraphrasing of course.

I bet that pundit feels like a tool now. Actually, I bet she doesn't.

I believe she was ill and I pray for her soul. I just find it rather suspicious the �day before� an election. Sympathy vote maybe? Obama�s October suprise!

Sick to use an elderly lady. Could he not have waited until after the election?

Oh, that is so sad. What awful timing. Both because it will make it very hard for Obama to campaign effectively for the rest of the day, and because she didn't get to actually see her grandson win.

I hope she passed peacefully, confident that Obama will win tomorrow.

It's so frustrating because isn't the whole point of Jesus the fact that he was NOT an asshole. But some people think that because they claim to believe in Christianity, they can then be horrible, horrible people to everyone else.
I don't believe in religion, but I will speak their language for a moment: there is a special place in hell for them - I think it festers inside themselves as they walk the earth.

If she did I'm sure the GOP is drawing up a suit to have her vote discounted.

It's terrible that she lived just long enough to almost see him elected. It's too bad she couldn't be with us and lucid to witness her grandson become the President elect. On the other hand, I'm 28 and all 4 of my grandparents have been dead for like, 14 years, so for her to see her grandson become a 47 year-old senator and respected public servant is pretty lucky.

I mean, I wonder sometimes if my parents will live to see me graduate from med school and get all sad thinking about how it'll feel if they don't. He's about to be elected PRESIDENT of the UNITED FREAKIN' STATES. It has to be so rough knowing that his mom and grandma are both gonna miss it. :(

How do you cope with this kind of loss and the huge amount of pressure and stress? I know I couldn't function without shutting down a little. I hope that after tonight, which should be FULL OF VICTORY, DAMMIT, Barack gets to take some time to be with his family and grieve. Experiencing loss in public must be incredibly difficult--you have to fit "expected" displays of emotion and coping skills.

And bite me, California Republicans. Don't make me stab you in the clavicle.
