The Mormons are pushing anti-gay laws to get credibility from the larger Christian establishment. Polygamy is the LDS Church's greatest PR disaster, so what better way to distance themselves from it and get respect from other evangelical nutjobs than to mandate "traditional" marriage for everyone?

Mitt Romney probably would have run against Barack Obama except many Christians had a problem with his religion. The more respect they get from Protestants and Catholics, the more money and power they get.

I think bringing attention to their polygamist roots might be a good idea to help make their plan backfire...

I'm Katherine the Utah Democrat's husband:
We took the whole fam (4 kids: yes we were were raised Mormon) to the protest tonight. It was fabulous. Very much a party atmosphere, with people of all stripes. According to the local Fox affiliate, 2000 people were there. (I think there might have been more.)

There were some haters trying to make a counter-protest, but they were few and seemed to disappear after an hour or so. (Weirdly, some of them were the regular evangelical anti-Mormon nutjobs who haunt Temple Square. Politics makes strange bedfellows I suppose.)
There were also lots of well-behaved cops around.

So often, gays get smacked down by religious groups telling us that they don't wabnt us pusghing our sex lives under their noses. We been told to keep our sex lifes private, because you (MORMON) do not want to see it.

The role has been reversed. Gays have be quietly pursuing their rights through the the court systems - and we are winning. So, this gutter relion of Mormon decides that THEY know what's best for the country and short-circuit our legal victories.

It is my position, and the position of many others that I know, that Mormons shall reap what they have sown. The preached hate and they are going to get hate. They judged us and they are going to be judged. They are trying to destroy us and our families. We will destroy them. DESTROY THEM.

Let them call up a counter protest. Let them get one of their guttersnipe members to get up in my face. He will never, ever have an opportunity to talk again.
