I just got home from my volunteer work doing voter protection tonight, and as excited as I am, I feel like I missed a huge party. Such a great day! I can't wait to (go to sleep and then) wake up tomorrow to new ideas and new hope for this, MY country!

About 10:30 PM my party discovered a brass band playing on the corner of 1st and Stewart. I think it was the Circus Contraption Band, or at least some of them. Two tubas, trombone, sax, big strap on drum, snare drum, crash cymbals, and a beat up umbrella bobbing in time.

We and about 50-75 folks gathered around, and after about 10 minutes, the whole mass started moving south on the sidewalk. By the time we hit Pike we were all in the road, and I found myself agog to be actually dancing in the street!

Over the next hour we worked our way slowly south, squad cars clearing the way at each intersection. Hundreds of strangers hugging, high-fiving, and occasionally strutting.

Someone in the crowd observed that it was like a New Orleans funeral, and it was, but it was also something quite opposite.
