My favorite story so far. Three generations of first time voters... incredible.

These stories are great because they are virtually eliminating any worrying I might be doing during the day today. Tonight may be a different story, but the feel-good-ness of these posts will get me through the day.

I was born and raised in Lincoln Nebraska, now living in Portland, and I never had the wonderful opportunity to see such voter turnout there. That's wonderful news. It was always so depressing voting there because I'm a democrat and Nebraska NEVER goes Democratic. I always grumbled that my vote didn't count, but I made sure to drag my butt down to the polls to do my part. I'm go encouraged to hear others doing the same! Hi Lincoln! Miss you!

Shawn - You should have been here last night! We had over 200 people lined up and down O Street (the major thoroughfare) with homemade signs cheering and chanting for Obama. We had more honks for us than I would've ever expected to see in Lincoln. Eventually a DJ volunteered his services and set up his equipment. We had a huge rally/party on the main street in Lincoln, Nebraska celebrating the DEMOCRATIC candidate for president. It was the most amazing experience ever in Lincoln. People were walking up and down the street with tears in their eyes, not believing what they were seeing. We were young, old, disabled, white, black, latino, gay, straight - all of us together celebrating, dancing, screaming our heads off and just enjoying the company of fellow Democrats. Believe it or not - it was just like a Husker gameday, but we were all wearing blue and holding Obama signs, American flags, and balloons. It's really crazy what this election, and this candidate, has inspired, even in the deepest of red states!

That's awesome news Ed! Wow, if it rivals a Husker game it must be huge! It's funny how Lincoln, Omaha, & sometimes Kearney and Grand Island will go Democrat, but all the rest of the state goes Republican. I'm so glad and jealous you got to partake in that amazing outpouring of support for Obama. I'll bet O Street never looked so good. Was there anything going on at the Rococo? That place would be awesome for an election night party! Well, an Obama party anyway. Happy Obama Day!

This story made me cry. I'm an Ohioan studying in Holland and we're staying up all night to watch the election on a big screen at a bar. I'm so exited I couldn't sleep last night.

Shawn - actually, the party took place at the State Theater, which is a similar sort of place that shows movies and has concerts etc. There were actually bands performing a free show after the rally, which was awesome.

Last Saturday we had "Barackstock" at the same theater where 8 bands played a free show from 7-1 a.m. and Sen. Nelson and candidate Kleeb both spoke to the crowd. It's a fun time to be a Democrat in Lincoln, as unbelievable as that is. The first ever Nebraska Democratic Party caucus I think had a lot to do with that.
