And the streets in Seattle are still wild as all hell. Sirens, cars honking, people chanting, screaming, whooping, kissing, and ultimately celebrating a New United States.
Thank you Barack Obama. Thank you with all my heart. Love, Kelly O
About 1000 of us- mostly UW students- marched from Red Square, up the Ave, through the Greek Area, then across the University Bridge, up Harvard, and all the way to Pike/Broadway. I've never seen anything like it in my life. It was a wall of people dominating the street, cheering, chanting, celebrating, with a guy blowing on an actual Lord of The Rings style ram's horn to urge us on. All the fucking way to capitol hill. I will write more about these fantastic things I have seen tomorrow. For now my legs are sore, my feet have about 6 blisters each, and I'm going to bed.
I'm the biggest asshole cynic in the world, but tonight's results, as well as walking around seeing everyone with big fat shit-eating grins on their faces was one of the best experiences of my life.
I love this city, I love this neighborhood, and I LOVE BARACK OBAMA!
I tucked my kids into bed after watching Obama's speech with them and so we missed the joyous celebration in our streets. Thanks for sharing this with us. My daughter kept looking in amazement at her mom and dad with tears streaming down their smiling faces for hours last night. We are SO crazy happy, and seeing this makes me feel SO proud to be part of this community.
What a night!
My son who is going to be two this month recognizes Obama. Whenever he has seen him on the television he will shout, "OBAMA". (it is fun to say)
He probably doesn't entirely understand when I tell him that Obama is our president, but I feel so proud to be able to tell him that.
The video the Seattle Times has of people singing "Don't Stop Believing" and "The Star Spangled Banner" at Pike and Broadway last night made me cry this morning. Fucking beautiful. I am amazed that two years ago I saw this guy speak to less than a thousand people in a community college gym and today he's my president.
@10 - Jessica, can you link us to the videos? Maybe it's my deliriously happy and addled brain or the fact that I got zero sleep last night but I can seem to find them.
I got home just in time to see Jill Strait grit her teeth when it was pointed out that Rossi, even with thousands of votes out there, was still losing by 50k
To #'s 4 & 5, it's neither, it's hYpocrIsy.
And I do belive that the Stranger pussed out when they officially endorsed Mrs. Clinton. So put that on the roof of your disco and salute it bitches.
I hope they had more than one garbage bag. Lots of broken glass, tons of trash. Look, I'm not here to wave my cane at the kids -- it was an awesome celebration -- but it was an ironic mess.

@18, someone went into QFC and bought a box of garbage bags, and people were pretty continuously sweeping for garbage. There ended up being a big pile of filled trash bags on the corner outside the QFC.

My boyfriend and I watched Obama's speech at Vitrolla (they just got a liquor license). It was just amazing. A huge crowd of Capitol Hill people: crazy-looking people, young twenty-somethings, young professionals, gays, lesbians, normal-looking people, older people - everyone was glued to the TV and everyone had the same expression on their faces: serious, hopeful, and happy. These are historic times, to have an African-American president of United States of America :) that is just fantastic! As someone who has experience discrimination first-hand (the reason I live in the US is racial cleansing in my native Russia), as an immigrant and a member of a minority in America, this was such a meaningful night. He's human, he's going to make mistakes, he won't be able to accomplish everything he promised during the campaign (I mean, c'mon, he's a politician after all), but he's young, he's energetic, he's a natural-born leader, an intelligent, brilliant man, who got where he is on his own merit, a superb strategist who surrounds himself with talented, smart people, reasonable and cool-headed - which is exactly what we need in a commander-in-chief. I LOVE MY NEIGHBORHOOD and Seattle!

YES WE LITTERED! I felt sorry for whoever the city had to call in afterwards to clean up after Pike and Broadway.
Actually @14, No we didn't. There were Obama Supporters walking through the crowd picking up trash all night. KOMO even talks about it:
