It's bullshit, mang. I was lucky enough to get one when I went to a polling place with my gf this morning, despite my absenteeism.

And thus Megan Selig contributes evidence supporting the public choice theory that people vote not because their vote increases their utility via its policy implication, but because their vote increases their utility by contributing to their social status and feelings of moral superiority.

Think about it, Megan. What if the ballot came with a sticker and the person who received the ballot didn't vote, but wore the sticker anyway. The whole system would be broken. The sticker would become meaningless. This is very serious and important. The sanctity of the sticker must be protected by credentialed poll officials.

I have extra stickers. I'll give you one tonight.

I just voted at the polls and they were out of stickers! I feel your pain...

Absentee ballots in some states come with an I Voted sticker, but the pikers here won't give them to us.

We need stickers.

@2. Speaking of fucking moral superiority, Jesus.

How about making your own?

Make your own. Get one of those "Hi, I'm -" name tags and write in "An Absentee Voter" on it.

Wow we didn't get stickers here either, but I didn't realize it until I got to work and saw folks with 'em.

That's funny, I've had 2 people in my office lament that they didn't get a sticker with their absentee ballot when they saw mine.

@2 - wow! Pretty hard to criticize Megan for wanting to publicly display that she participated in such an important event. I think we all feel that way today. I know I do as an absentee voter.

And/or she just wanted to make sure she got a free cup of coffee at Starbucks. W'evs.

The same thing happened to me this morning! I decided to drop off my absentee ballot at my neighborhood polling place in Capitol Hill, but alas, no sticker...

Dropped my ballot off in person - received aforementioned sticker. Promptly lost said sticker a week ago.

I voted in person for the first time ever today (got tired of telling them over and over that I want to be a permanent absentee), and they didn't even offer me a sticker. Just a "thanks for voting!" and a smile. The smile was nice and everything, but I was looking forward to a sticker.

Maybe I'll just carve "betov I" into my cheek.

I live in smallish town Wisconsin, and we went to the polls and they didn't have any "I Voted" stickers either (and never have from my experience). And we weren't even voting absentee. And can't even claim the ran out since the polls were pretty deserted other than the sea of old ladies manning the place.

How old are you, Megan Seling? You sound like a whiny little kid whose Happy Meal doesn't have a toy inside.

Try adulthood on for size.

I was thinking this same thing this morning. I wish stickers came in the absentee ballots.

I voted in person and I didn't get a sticker.

I wanted one, too.

I was surprised to be offered one when I dropped my ballot off today in Ballard...pretty excited about it though and will be wearing it all day.

Megan, save the tear-off ballot stub and wear it around your wrist.

@20- Try my foot on for size. Up your butt.

@20, you're an ass. People are proud to vote, and should feel proud to wear a sticker proclaiming that they did. I would be irritated if I didn't get a sticker either. I brought my two-year-old when I voted this morning. She stood in line with me while we waited for the polls to open, she waited patiently while we stood in line to check in, she waited patiently while I stood in the VERY long line to collect my ballot. She only started to get antsy while I was filling the ballot out, and started swinging from the leg of the voting booth. For her awesome behavior, she got an "I voted" sticker too. You can suck it, Niro DeRobert; I think you're the one that needs to grow up.

Maybe you should of asked the poll worker for a sticker?

Yes! I thought I was the only one! Who pays for these stickers? If it's taxpayer dollars I want one in my absentee envelope next year. My hand-made PostIt looks awful.

My last polling place always had candy to give out when you voted -- a big box of chocolates to choose from. That was significantly better than a sticker, which I don't think I've ever gotten here.

@18: Haha, nice.

In general: I got a sticker at 8:25 am in Queen Anne. It was offered to me, no need to ask. I put it in my wallet instead of on, though. It was raining and I didn't want it to get ruined.

I walked my absentee ballot to my polling place on Harvard and Mercer and got a sticker. It's the main reason I waited to send my ballot in. I wanted to vote at a polling place the last time I would get to.
And I'm wearing my sticker proudly as I walk around Seattle carrying a 'Vote Today' sign. Say 'hi' if you see me. :-)

go to the First Presybyterian Church at 1013 8TH AVE. they have a table off to the side with a roll of stickers. this is the first time they have provided stickers.

Geez, just ASK for the dang sticker. You PNW's are so weird and passive aggressive:( I don't get it.

Anyway, you won't even remember the sticker when you are celebrating President-Elect Obama.

We don't get stickers or ballot stubs or anything to prove we voted in my state. While it felt really, really good to vote for all Democrats (except in the race where no Democrat was running) in my very Red state, a sticker or a ballot stub would have been nice - something to remember from what is sure to be an historic day.

When I found out I could get free chicken fingers and Starbucks coffee for displaying my "I voted" sticker, I asked a friend to pick one up for me (I voted absentee in Columbus, OH). Indigestion for dinner!

I want a sticker! I have been poll-voting in person now for several elections and never gotten one. I thought they weren't passing them out anymore, but then I've seen people wearing them. I voted this morning at the Sunset Hill Community Center in Ballard and didn't get a sticker. I guess I'll have to make my own...

I dropped my completed ballot off at SCCC and walked over to the sticker distributor, asked for an received one. It was that easy. I'm sporting it now. Seriously. That. Easy.

I overheard a guy ask for one at my polling place - he'd voted absentee, but just came in for the sticker. They gave him one no problem. I'm sure you could go into any polling place (that's not out of them) and get one.

I didn't know you could drop off an absentee ballot at a polling location. The King County Elections website makes no mention of it.

You can mail in or drop off your absentee at one of only 3 WIDELY spaced locations in Seattle: Downtown (500 4th ave), the U-District, and West Seattle (Delridge).

I don't know if I'd trust anything short of using the direct drop box but I mailed mine, just to be safe because I didn't know what chaos would be downtown with the traffic.

People, get your stuff to the POST OFFICE or the drop box NOW (by 8PM!!!!!!! Don't risk it, polling locations are crowded enough!
