Shouldn't there be an "all of the above" option? I can think of at least one person who needs it.

Can I register a "Cautiously Optimistic" about the presidential race, and a "Terrified/Panic Attack" about Prop 8 and my Georgia senatorial race?

How are the polls on Prop 8 looking?

I've been sick to my stomach all morning. I went for the closest I could find to "I want to puke right about now," but when I went to click on "panic attack," my browser finished loading something above, and I accidentally voted for "uneasy". I puked, and then I calmly changed my vote to what I'd intended.

All the same, I think I'd like a paper trail.

It also says something about Slog readership that, nine minutes after it was posted (during the workday), it's already up to 254 votes.

I'm pretty sure my workdays consist of staring at Google Reader and news websites for the next 36 hours.

(I voted "confident", at least for Obama. Good luck on the downticket races, Washington.)

I'm completely fucking zen today.

Tomorrow, it's get-out-the-vote time. Take the day off, go down to Obama HQ on Mercer and Yale, and they'll put you to work.

Definitely all of the above (well, except confident), but cautiously optimistic is probably the overall feeling, so I focused on that. Cautiously.

How about IMPATIENT.
Can't wait for Wednesday, when it's all over.

I'm Cautiously Optimistic at the moment, but I predict to swing between Uneasy and Terrified tomorrow.

I'm ALMOST glad to be working till 9pm.

I agree with @11.

But then, come Wednesday, I have to start worrying about Comrade Bush starting WW III before he's removed physically from the building, and all the crimes they'll do before the bulk pardons are issued.

@2

I hear ya; Martin and Chambliss are in a statistical dead-heat. Martin will likely carry the Creative Coast (and definitely Savannah.)

Full-on panic attack over here, with cautious optimism and terror swamping over me in waves. Every time I start feeling good about Obama I start freaking about Rossi and the Cal initiative. If you hear any reports about a naked man wrapped in an American flag running out into traffic screaming and getting run over by cars out on Aurora tomorrow night, that will be me.

@15 Fnarf, I am right there with you.

My current mood is obsessed with bouts of terror with an over arching feeling of hope and anxiety.

@2, @14 -- alas, fivethirtyeight has Chambliss as an 84% favorite right now, based on all polling. The only thing Martin's got to cling to is hopes that the turnout will swamp expectations. The Dems are probably only going to get to 59 or 58 in the Senate (Franken in MN is teetering).

i'm more concerned with the turnout and how early in the morning i should go before work. the polls open at 6am in new jersey (we don't have an early voting period here) and usually leave for work at 7:30. i'm probably going around 6:15 just to be safe.

@19. My polling place is about 100 yards from my house. I plan on going at 6 am in pajamas.

julie, lucky you! mine is a few miles away, which isn't too bad. to clarify, i AM quite uneasy about the election, but the most panic-inducing thought right now is making sure i vote AND get to work.

I'm with @1 & @15. All over the map, and right now choking with anxiety. And I'm fucking Canadian.

I know I'm not alone when I say that I've never felt such empathy for America as I do right now.

Hang in there, people. Tomorrow is going to be a great, great day.

I thought I was doing just fine until I saw the Rossi headline this morning and then read Sean Nelson's post. Thanks for the panic attack!

@18

And that's our hope. Turnout--and standard polling models that have excluded 'likely voters' who failed to vote in past elections. Atlanta got the ledes, but lines at early-voting polls throughout Chatham County (Savannah) all last week had waiting times averaging over an hour. An ocean of brown and black faces who did not vote in 2004.

Additionally, for a campaign that only started in August, Martin is making Chambliss work his cracker ass off.

Early voting in GA is 150%+ over 2004; wish us a continued heavy turn-out, Washington.

Who isn't terrified?!?! My state might elect a felon, California might take away tens of thousands of marriages, Chicago might burn down! EREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

I am confident in Obama, but scared shitless about Rossi. OMFG, if Rossi wins I am going to cry.

And prop 8, damnit, I am really concerned about that one.

I think Fnarf completely captured my feelings.

Feeling pretty good about Obama. The polls all look good. After the last 2 elections, I will not believe it until it's official, but it is hard to see how McCain can win at this point.

However, I'm in full on freak out mode over the governor's race and Prop 8 in CA.

My guess is that Gregoire will eek out a tight victory on Obama's coattails, but I may just be overly optimistic. Multiple recounts wouldn't surprise me in the least. If Gregiore wins, she totally owes Obama a blow job.

I also think Prop 8 will pass. Every single state that has voted to enshrine discrimination against gays into their constitution has done so. The polls are excruciatingly close, and I have no faith that it will break our way. People are assholes. Go figure.

It looks like everyone above more or less mirrors my thoughts:
* Feeling good for Obama
* I needed a check box not radio choice in that poll
* Really worried about whether I can get married after Tuesday

I just got laid off this morning, so I'm not feeling so warm and bubbly today. I hope to be feeling much, much, much better tomorrow evening. Don't let me down. :)

I'm fine. JUST FINE. I'M FINE DAMMIT, STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT!!! just fine. fine. fine.

*deep breath*

I'll be fine. About 8 p.m. EST when the polls close and Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Ohio are in the bag. Then I intend to start drinking heavily.

I've been anxious pretty much all day. Not even the Shiba Inu Puppies (bookmarked!) are helping. They have collars now.
