Fuck You, Texas

And the horse you rode into national politics on.

(Texas goes, of course, McCain.)

...except for San Antonio, which makes the best mass-produced salsa in a jar that money can buy.

Nothing says "Fuck you, Texas" like convincing my lifelong-Republican parents living in a Texas town with a large Air Force base to vote Obama.

all of my family and friends in texas voted for obama. the problem is that all the dems in dallas, houston, austin, and san antonio do not cancel out the whole rest of the state. texas would be a great place to implement a split electoral vote-- texas would be a great big purple state!

Hey now-- Texas metro areas are progressive/liberal. Austin and Houston can stand up with Seattle any day. And yes, I've lived in all three. Washington state has its rednecks in the east... imagine how you'd feel if that redneck area was enough to skew Washington state to McCain. You'd probably be as miserable as all the perfectly nice, reasonable, progressive people in Austin and Houston do right now. There's only so much that cities can do to offset such a vast, rural redneck population.

Not all of Texas voted McCain. A lot of us did vote Obama.

Texas was MUCH closer (4/9 to 5/9) than anyone ever expected. Don't hate. I'm one transplanted Texas who just got his WA voter card and basically voted a straight The Stranger ticket.

Remember Ann Richards? Yeah, it wasn't that long ago. We can make Texas good again.

Fuck YOU Karl Rove and the horse YOU rode in on.

That's Tex-ass thank you.

And in Dallas we voted for Obama! The Dem block party was packed, and everyone went crazy when he won! I had to stop taking pictures because I was crying.

I and just about everyone I know here in Austin voted proudly for Obama. We were popping open the champagne and setting off fireworks last night in celebration. I know the rest of Texas can be a bunch of jack-asses, but there are good parts, too.

I grew up in Dallas and, yeah, it's a shithole. I've been in Austin for 20 years, and I'm proud of Texas this election, despite it still voting red. Y'all might not realize the country's opinion of the NW, but you are great at perpetuating our stereotypes of you.

There is a world of thinking, motivated, dedicated people outside of Seattle (gasp), and they are actually swimming against the stream trying to affect change, rather than relaxing in the comfort of a nice, cozy, smug, Seattle hidey-hole.

Quit judging the world outside of Seattle as fat, stupid "others". We're on the battlefield. You're getting lazy in a self-congratulatory haze surrounded by like people.

Gay in Seattle? Big deal. Gay in Texas? Ballsy.

Again, I remind you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X-zCUpWnME
