It's not like The Stranger broke into anyone's homes or trespassed on private property when taking those pictures.

Those campaign signs are for public consumption, much like Christmas decorations and if my memory serves, The Stranger also ran similar pictures of Christine Gregoire signs.

I'm heartened that at least half of us have a sense of decency. It's in bad taste to publish the addresses. Even if someone just throws an egg - it could be that a young Obama supporter tending her ailing Republican grandmother has to clean it up.
It's a matter of being nice to people in general, and respecting their opinions as you feel that they must respect yours.

Let me get this right. Say that I'm a thug, and I'm inclined to violence toward people/property with Rossi or McCain yard signs. I need the Stranger to publish addresses for me? Like I couldn't drive over to Bellevue and find Rossi signs all by myself without the Stranger hit piece?

Or say I'm not a violent guy. Reading this Stranger hit piece is supposed to incite me to drive over to Bellevue and commit violent acts? Even though I already drive past dozens of houses a day with Rossi or McCain signs, and have managed to do so without violence?

Sure, I thought the article was a bit crass. But it isn't like those homeowners were trying to disguise their political leanings. Like the Stranger violated some great personal secret. They have big signs in their yards. They want people to know who they support. Now more people know.

I dont' think it was right to publish the addresses. Picture of the house? Sure. Addresses? No. It encourages voter intimidation.

If a right-wing paper in Georgia published all the addresses of those homes with Obama signs, I think we Obama supporters would go berserk. I know I would.
