And then they vanished." Killenger is the former chief executive of Washington Mutual. He lives—or lived—in the Highlands. Anybody know any suddenly unemployed "household staff"? We'd love to hear from 'em.... It brings to mind the image of the household staff in little cages and chains ala the employees in Lily Tomlin's fantasy in 9-5.

They (the staff) probably ran into the hills where they will eke out a living grubbing roots and sleeping under the trees.
