Party tonight, but in the morning let's purge our party of those damn PUMAs. You know, the ones that assured us that Obama could never win and supported McCain.

I just finished an analysis of the state legislative results. Based on the info from teh Secretary of State web site, it looks like minor gains for the Democrats, which is pretty remarkable considering their already overwhelming dominance.

House Net +3D 4 seats R to D, 1 seat D to R,
Democrats: 66 seats
Republicans: 32 seats

Dem pickups in Districts 10, 17, 25 & 30.
R pickup in District 26 (Pat Lantz’s seat)

Senate +1 D
Democrats: 33 seats
Republicans: 16 seats
(Benton R-17th defeated)

You're right, just because these PUMAs said our candidate couldn't be trusted, that he was dangerous and pro-terrorist, just because they stood on the stage with McCain, raised money for him and will trash Obama through his presidency.

No reason to remove them from the Democratic party leadership, right? Might as well leave them in those positions so they can trash our candidate as prominent Democrats when he runs again in four years.

@10 - I look forward to laughing at the pro-Rossi "Don't let Seattle steal this election" billboards this morning. Spokane County so far is 50.1% for Gregoire. It's close, but it's an improvement from the 1996 Republican caucuses, when Dole won Washington but BUCHANAN won Spokane County.

Other than the fact that Prop 8 won in California, which is absolutely shitty and horrible and fucked up and that Sound Transit, which is to effective public transit what the Iraq War is to effective foreign policy, is getting more money to piss away on rail systems that won't and do a goddamned thing for the majority of King County residents it was a pretty good day.

Yes, and fuck Sound Transit with a chainsaw too. What a fucking piece of shit, Sound Transit, which is to effective public transportation what the Iraq war is to effective foreign policy and punishing Al Qaeda for 9/11, is going to get more money to piss away on rail systems that don't do a goddamned thing for the majority of King County residents, which are incredibly wasteful (each trip on the Sounder costs 70 dollars), aren't very reliable (Sounder rail) and encourage suburban sprawl (Sounder rail, which is mostly ridden by people who want to own McMansions in South King County and Snohomish County). It's amazing to me how rail supporters squeal in impotent leftist fury about suburban sprawl being subsidized by highway construction but have no problem with suburban sprawl being subsidized by heavy rail construction.

Of course when you're dealing with intellectually dishonest Holy Railers like Erica C. "I don't like riding the bus because it's full of negros and handicapped people" Barnett none of this matters. "de train, de train" they squeal as they jump up and down excitedly and shit themselves with retarded glee. I mean for fuck's sake, arguing with the stupidly credulous supporters of Sound Transit is like arguing with the stupidly credulous supporters of the Iraq War. If you point out to a supporter of the Iraq War that it was supposed to be a cakewalk and that we were supposedly going to be greeted as liberators but are still there five years later they say "Yes, but look at how well the Surge is working." If you point out to a Sound Transit supporter that the agency was run by incompetents who lied about the true costs of building a light rail system and that the system that they're building is three years late, two billion dollars over budget, and seven miles short of what was originally promised to the voters in 1996 they say "Oh yes, but Sound Transit is much better run now than it was back then. They have audits 'n shit now."

Tell an Iraq War supporter that we should pull our troops out because we're wrecking the Army and Marine Corps and putting them in harm's way by having them in the middle of a civil war and the Iraq War supporter will shit and scream and yell "Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda. Terrorism. Terrorism." Tell a Sound Transit supporter that not a single light rail system has ever met its ridership projections and that most of the riders of Sound Transit light rail will come from existing bus riders and not from people deciding to leave their cars at home they shit and scream and yell "Global warming. Global warming."

Then of course there are the purported benefits of each. The Iraq War was supposed to set up Iraq as a wonderful democracy in the middle east, a shining beacon of light that would inspire the people of other Arab countries to rise up against their current governments and institute democracy in the Middle East, thus ensuring cheap oil for America and the security of Israel. We've seen how well that works out. Sound Transit supporters point out that property values will rise along the Sound Transit routes and that wonderfully dense and culturally vibrant neighborhoods will magically spring into place along light rail routes, the sort of urban fantasia beloved by the leftist lumpenintelligentsia. These neighborhoods will be wonderful and great places to live because they'll be ethnically diverse with the right kinds of brown people (i.e., not the ones that Erica C. Barnett is constantly bitching about having to share a bus with) but despite this gentrification will still be affordable to 30-something losers who make shit wages by writing puff pieces about Sound Transit and Hillary Clinton for free "alternative" dailies.

Actually the gentrification probably will happen, and if there is any justice in the world the neighborhoods that Sound Transit runs through will become the new Belltowns. Hip, trendy and only affordable if you're young, don't have kids and have lots of money. The kinds of neighborhoods that people like Erica C. Barnett and other 30 something losers who make shit wages by writing for free "alternative" dailies will never be able to afford living in. Indeed if there is any justice in the world Erica C. will be driven out of her neighborhood by rising rents and will be forced to move over to Delridge or White Center and get to work by taking the #125 bus.

And please, don't say things "Yeah, you're bitching about it now, but you'll be grateful when it's done" because if you do I will seriously consider hunting you down and caving in your fucking skull with whatever blunt instrument comes to hand.
