Books You’ve Been Cruciblized!

onHoly God. I didn’t hear about this when it happened, but Halloween is coming up, so it’s appropriate again:
A man assigned “The Crucible” in an adult education English class doused his teacher with a nonflammable liquid and threatened to burn her as a witch, police said.Darin Najor, 20, ran from the classroom after the attack Sept. 11 and was sent for psychiatric evaluation after telling police “he was trying to kill the witch by pouring holy water over her head,” Detective Ken Denmark said.
Also, I think Detective Ken Denmark is a great name. If he’s really smart and eccentric, I bet he could hold down a mystery book series.

I don't know, Constant -- there's something rotten about that detective...
If Detective Ken Denmark is really smart and eccentric, and has a huge cock, he could hold down a pornographic mystery book series.
oh yay, Shakespearean jokes!
Is that an ESL class or a Literature class? Because, given traditions and superstitions in other countries & cultures, I would have thought twice before bringing up witches.
"Detective Ken Denmark" is so good it sounds fake.
Like "New Amsterdam" ?
It was Palin's pastor.
I've given you my soul - leave me my name!
why, o why, must we continue to assign The Crucible?
What is she assigned "A Separate Peace?"
"after the attack Sept. 11..."
have you forgotten?
Nonflammable... is that the same as inflammable and flammable?
Did Arthur Miller write that before or after he was married to Marilyn Monroe. Could have been an inspiration...
I can't believe I just read a real news story about a witch and a man named Darin.
I am close personal friends with the teacher that has been accused of witchcraft. The Crucible is part of the district approved curriculum and she was merely doing her job. Most of her students are people trying to get their high school diploma. She never imagined that she would have a student who would take witchcraft aspect of the play and have a psychotic break because of it. Not to mention that this moron totally missed the point of the play...had he read it, he'd see that what occurred in it could not possibly have anything to do with believing in witchcraft. That would be like teaching the Holocaust and being accused of being a Nazi. What an ass.
