What She Said

posted by on October 11 at 9:18 AM

Gail Collins:

The Republican campaign strategy now involves sending their candidates to areas where everybody is a die-hard McCain supporter already. Then they yell about Obama until the crowd is so frenzied people start making threats. The rest of the country is supposed to watch and conclude that this would be an enjoyable way to spend the next four years.

The fuckwits who have run this campaign on Rovian 'principles', forcing Palin on McCain, have hit the wall with this Naziism. It is NOT working. This pandering to the psychotic, dwindling base supporters is totally counterproductive, and as we saw yesterday, even Sen. McCain is sick of this shit.

That scene yesterday of the crazy-haired hill woman sputtering into the microphone held by McCain, "ah jes hate him, he's a, he's a, he's a, Ayrab", and McCain sadly shaking his head and saying "no, no, no" was actually quite touching. These are not his people; he's just pandering to them, and he has to know what it's doing to him. How ironic that of all the Republicans McCain would turn out to be the least honest of them all.

It's going to take them 50 years to come back from this. Can a new third party rise up and take the #2 spot? Or will we have two Republicans, a Christian and a libertarian, dividing their vote for rest of the century?

The Bush years have emboldened the Republican party in the most incredible way. Just like GW, they seem to think they can do whatever the fuck they want, and get away with it.

The McCain campaign is a disastrous joke. I seriously cannot believe that they really thought they could get away with this garbage. The party's over, assholes. We are calling you out.

I believe McCain should suspend his presidential campaign at this time until further notice.

That is possibly the single most brilliant quote of this entire two year election season.

I haven't heard much about Hillary Democrats lately. Is the percentage Hillary primary supports that vow to support John McCain now so small that they are no longer a factor? Just curious.

Isn't this the same thing the Clintons did?

This sickens me. And you kinda have to ask people on the fence, like... "Do you really want to align yourself with this kind of thing... do you?" Because when it comes down to it, the McCain camp has lied about just about all of its qualifications as supposed "reformers".

My favorite quote from that article:
"I miss the old guy-guy McCain who had so many male pals around he looked like a walking fraternity reunion. Now, he’s starting to resemble an ambulatory patient accompanied by female attendants on an outing."

I love Gail Collins, and her buttertooth photo on the NY Times website makes me love her more. Her refusal to bleach her teef or let the Times photoshop her is a supersharp visual "fuck you" to the ascendancy of hypergrooming during the Bush years.

My dog took a dump the other day and for some crazy reason, I just wanted to taste it. Just to see, one of life's little experiments. Not bad.

Thanks, and I too will pass it on. For anyone who may have missed the eight other posts on this page--at the time I'm writing--about hotheads yelling abusive comments about Mr Obama at McCain rallies ... well, Dan and I have an important news item for you. There are hotheads yelling abusive comments about Mr Obama at McCain rallies. Just so you know.

Bob Herbert was pretty lucid today as well.

For the nitwits who vote for the man or woman they’d most like to have over for dinner, or hang out at a barbecue with, I suggest you take a look at how well your 401(k) is doing, or how easy it will be to meet the mortgage this month, or whether the college fund you’ve been trying to build for your kids is as robust as you’d like it to be....

Voting has consequences.
