What Sarah Palin’s Wearing

posted by on October 27 at 14:27 PM

For all you elitist snobs who think it’s a sin to buy $150,000 worth of clothes, Sarah Palin lists everything she’s wearing and how much it costs.
She also thinks talking about her clothes is sexist.

I’m surprised she didn’t say it was a “Republican cloth coat.”

Everyone else seemed to want to talk about how much her clothes cost. Why shouldn't she?

She's proud to wear her ring, except that she's not wearing it. Since when is a politician such an actor that they can't be seen wearing a wedding ring on-camera?

the real message "I got exposed for being a fraud so now I have to backtrack". Also, who the fuck cares about the beaded crap native americans make. What has Palin done to get them integrated into the energy economy?

I hate the fucking pointing thing politicians do.

She would have kept every thread of those clothes had this not come out. That woman is a born grifter. She is talking about this so she doesn't have to address the issues of the charges to the state of Alaska for per diems when she was in her own home and the travel for her children.

Changing the subject to allow her to talk about one of the few things she actually knows anything about: Her clothing choices. Now she can spend another week talking about where she shops instead of policy. All while claiming victimhood.

Brilliant.

Bellevue Ave: I'm with you on the pointing thing. Obama does it all the damn time. I don't think Bush does it, all the drooling makes that difficult.

I can get over the stupid pointing thing if the right things are happenning. You can, too.

How many soldiers didn't get VA benefits to pay for her clothes?

My guess is HUNDREDS.

I doubt she's winning any points by using the word "Eskimo", either.

The cheap wedding ring though - "It's not what's it's made of, it's what it represents". I couldn't agree more, but consider YOU BOUGHT IT FOR YOURSELF.

"Also, who the fuck cares about the beaded crap native americans make."

I think Heath Ledger would have cared BA. I think he would have cared deeply.

@7. Uh, what? Was the RNC going to use those funds to pay for soldiers' health care? And, in what universe do "VA benefits" cost less than $750 (which, they would have to in order for HUNDREDS to not get benefits)?

"Just like the lighting and the staging and everything else that the RNC purchased"

How is that not one of the most laughable things ever? She's equating herself to the stage and the set. Wow, what a total empty (pant)suit

Look for Eliz. Hasselbeck to run for office some time soon.

@11 - well, she is pretty much there for appearance. I am surprised she's not keeping the clothes, though - don't runway models usually get to keep the outfits when they're done with the gig?

hm. Maybe people aren't talking about her knowledge of the "issues" because a)it's nonexistent and b) she won't talk the media off-script. If there is no substance then there's no choice but to talk about style.

And what was all that shit about John Edwards' $400 dollar haircut? What's good for the gander is good for the goose. On a side note: thank god that $400 dollar haircut torpedoed the Edwards campaign.

she cracks me up, she is such a joke. she got busted and she is trying to spin it. bringing in elizabeth hasslebeck as her sidekick is an added bonus to this circus. this is SO OVER-old man mccain must be crapping his diapers.

She's not keeping them? Riiiiiiight.

What possible use would the RNC have for them when she stops wearing them?

Oh yeah, donate them to Sarah Palin's favorite consignment shop. And notify her ahead of time.

#13 - Not that you were looking for an answer, but unless they're celebrities then no, runway models usually don't get to keep the clothes after a show. But neither does Palin, so you're comment still totally works.

Posted by Dougsf | October 27, 2008 3:10 PM

It depends oin the model, it depends on the designer - so 'no name' designers do pay their models in clothes - just clothes, no money.

But that isn't want I wanted to say. What I wanted to says is : OMFG, Sarah Palin made a real sentence with a noun and a verb and everything! She's smarter than I thought!

A side note of an otherwise fine point....
"who the fuck cares about the beaded crap native americans make"

Bellevue Ave saying something disparaging towards indigenous people.

SHOCKING.

You are consistent. I will give you that.

I questioned why Palin would tout menial bead making skills vs. touting getting them running oil rigs and exploration operations, or leasing lands to oil companies to get them paid. cause the latter didn't happen. It's a fucking detriment and patronizing to indigenous peoples to be recognized for bead making. What has Palin done to take these peoples out of stone age poverty and into first world flushness? nothing.

@10 - it's called flinging shiite at a wall.

You'd be surprised how well it works.

She didn't say that about the coat because even she isn't so deluded as to think the Republican party represents fiscal responsibility anymore, aside from the fact that she's too young to understand the reference. Pretty amazing to me that they would dare call Obama a socialist for his ideas about wealth distribution when the Rs have engineered the most massive re-distribution of wealth since Herbert Hoover's days.

So if all her own things are good enough to wear now, why wasn't she wearing them all along? She's been appearing as a public figure and keynote speaker for years now. I don't recall any scandals about how awful she used to look.

But without her Republican Porn Star Makeover -- $22,000 of make-up and hair and several thousand dollars on her back and cloven hooves -- she looks boring. She's gone from trashy to just plain trash. From vulgar diva to never-was beauty queen. From larger-than-life bitch to a pretty -- but pretty damn stupid -- middle-aged lady.

And the brilliance of the makeover scandal is that she can never go back to hiding behind the curtain of looking like The First Whore. It's boring from here on out. She now looks like what she is, which is someone who has no business commanding national attention, let alone running the nation.

How is it a double standard to talk about her clothes? Did the DNC buy Joe Biden $150,000 worth of clothes and the media just isn't reporting it?

She, like her pal Sen. Ted Stevens, is in politics to enrich herself. 'Nough said?

Look, when she talks about her wedding ring, she clearly indicates her left hand and says she's not wearing it because it hurts when she shakes hands. How long has she been shaking with her left hand?! What a joke.

who the fuck cares how much they spend on dressing her up? i prefered the expensive clothes on her, & i think it was a perfectly acceptable expense by the RNC.

she should have ignored it & kicked it up a notch, to cindy mccain 20K/pantsuit level.

If it's Alaskan, it's living off our Federal Tax Subsidies.

And Palin is just one example.

That or bribes.

The only reason that she is donating the clothes to charity is so she doesn't have to report them as income. If there was no media flap over them you know that she would have just kept them and not declared them like her home stay per diem.

Females' clothes do get talked about waaaayyy more in general, but it's a bullshit issue either way. Same with Biden's hairplugs and Edward's (?) haircut. I can't imagine being one of the people who bases my vote on shit like this.

Um, I'm not joining the rest of the playground gang on this one. I don't like either one of them (esp. Hasselcrack) but I'm sick of the "wow, you women sure do love your clothes!" stereotype as much as I'm sure men get tired of the "wow, you guys over 41 sure have to use a lot of Viagra" thing.

I'll just go tie my apron on and go make dinner. Tomorrow morning? SHOPPING

Fuck.

Isn't the whole point of the clothing scandal that the RNC is not allowed to use its budget to buy clothing? So why does it matter whether she gets to keep them or not?
