It's like TOS episode "Who Mourns for Adonis"...those columns were the secret of Obama's power. But then McKirk blasted them with his phasers and then Obama shrunk down and the United States was saved!

Image is everything.

The Socialist Republicans are just jealous cause this year they can't afford them.

This appears to be a strange new use of "turning point" with which I wasn't previously familiar.

His campaign didn't design it, as I remember. Because his candidacy was confirmed so close to the convention (or, because Clinton waited so long to quit her losing effort), the DNC hired Production Resource Group to begin work on the convention without the Obama campaign guiding the hire or the design.

Given the excellent graphic design work associated with his campaign, I doubt they would have come up with the David Rockwell/Vegas nightmare that was the convention set, or the Friedrich St. Florian ridiculousness of the stadium set. I'm expecting a much more attractive set for the 2012 convention.
