Boobs are tender.
Yup, Safeway also had a big promotion on getting points for free gas. I wrote in and complained and got a nice thank you. I felt sorry for their workers who had to wear dumb shirts promoting gas, ie destruction of the planet via climate change.
Safeway is not hip, it's just there.
So lame. Red meat causes breast cancer. This is like Marlboro donating 5% of sales to the American Lung Association.
@ 3 "Red meat causes breast cancer." while i know about the nitrite preservatives causing cancer do you have any supporting documentation for the meat itself?
It's jrrrl, so no.
#4, I'm on my iPhone so I can't post links but google "meat breast cancer.". It's very well established that meat (especially beef) increases your risk of several cancers.
w7ngman, what are you talking about? I may be stupid but I probably post more links than any other commenter.
@ 6. I am sorry but google doesnt cut it i need actual science. i am talking about good natural organic meat. not "women who eat meat" from surveys. I already know that the majority or american meat is treated with a carinogen for a preservative so you cant blame the meat.
sorry about the misspellings.

I'm just being an ass.

Also, in other news, eating causes cancer.
Ooh, this is a good reminder to read the China Study.
Apologizing for posting a picture of meat? Heh.
Hi Kids--I've had breast cancer, diagnosed 5 years ago. Mastectomy, 6 months of chemo, 3 months of radiation, several months of getting over the assaults to my body. I've been vegetarian, I've eaten red meat. I grew up in Los Alamos (bomb city!) New Mexico. Any of those things or others could have been the culprit for giving me cancer. Please get over your diagnoses, there are many reasons for cancer and nobody knows what they are. So eat red meat or not, and don't get all smug about your choice. The minute you're born you hve a 100% chance to die.
HOORAY FOR SEATTLE PASSIVE AGGRESSIVENESS!!!!!!!
shouldn't it be chicken breasts and not beef?
MMmmmmmm BEEF!
it's what's for dinner!
I could care less if it is mass produced, not free range, or full of fat.
Mmmmm
@12 thanks, OC; I don't think I've ever seen it put so succinctly. I wake up every morning knowing that I could get pegged by a car on my way to work. then I strap my helmet on and tear ass down the street anyways.
There's this odd lump in my veal--should I have it looked at?
Hmmmmm, red meat!! Eat it and who cares if it kills you. Better to die eating something pleasureable than choking down fucking tofu everyday!!
NOfu!
I agree, I would rather lead a typically healthy life and allow myself tacos or BBQ once in a while instead of being constantly afraid of everything and limiting my choices so severely!
and also agreed - the safeway ads are kinda off, but whatevs. It's probably working.
Eat meat if you like. It'll help if you ignore the science. Read the China Study, for instance. This massive study found a direct, linear correlation between meat consumption and a whole parade of diseases. More meat = greater chance of contracting the diseases.
There's a difference between "being afraid" and being aware. You're right: driving to work could kill me. But at least I put on my seat belt. I also don't eat stuff that's bad for me. (Not to mention the environment and the animals.)
Who fucking cares if the pink ribbon is on a package of meat or a package of chicken cuttlets.
The money's still going to awareness and research.
Blah. Okay, I'll post some links now.
Meat (especially beef) causes breast cancer:

It isn't the meat alone, it is how much, how often and what constitutes the rest of an individual's diet and lifestyle. Rates for different cancer types vary widely amongst various ethnic and cultural groups. This is not due to diet or lifestyle alone, genetics and environment also play a huge part. If you want to improve your chances of enjoying a long, healthy life remember: "Everything in moderation, including moderation."
So eat red meat or not, and don't get all smug about your choice. The minute you're born you hve a 100% chance to die.
Blah. By that logic, why not take up smoking? Why not ride a motorcycle without a helmet? Why not start doing speedballs? (It's fun and you're gonna die anyway!)
Eating meat doubles your chance of breast cancer. Vegetarians (like Linda McCartney) can still get breast cancer just like non-smokers can still get lung cancer. I'm not grabbing steak out of your hands. Do what you will with that information. Some people may consider sticking around with your friends and family is more important than a juicy steak, others may not.
I am sorry but google doesnt cut it i need actual science. i am talking about good natural organic meat. not "women who eat meat" from surveys. I already know that the majority or american meat is treated with a carinogen for a preservative so you cant blame the meat.
There's no evidence of that and that is definitely "junk science." Meat causes breast cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, heart disease, diabetes, blah blah blah. If you say "oh, it's just a preservative" or "oh, not if you steam your beef on the winter solstice" that's like saying "oh, it's not the cigarettes that cause cancer, it's the ABC additive and XYZ preservative." It doesn't matter from a public health standpoint and we'll probably never know the exact chemicals in red meat that are causing cancer.
Organic meat could possibly be less dangerous, but there are no studies about this yet. I highly doubt it since preservatives and pesticides are added to vegetarian foods at higher rates. If you eat organic meat hoping that it's not going to kill you, you're basing that on hopes and dreams, not science.
Actual scientific journal articles about meat causing breast cancer (those googled links above cite other major studies - there are dozens of them):
