I need this man to lead my country. He will change all of our lives, and bring dignity, eloquence, diplomacy, and sanity back to the White House. And dear GOD, can the man deliver a speech.

There's no excuse. Vote. And vote for Barack. Anyone you know who's too wishy-washy to get their asses to a booth next Tuesday, drag them there yourself (assuming they intend to vote correctly, of course. Otherwise leave them on the sidelines, where they belong).

The campaign comes full circle. There are no Red States of America, there are no Blue States of America, there are only the UNITED States of America. Hope. Change. Come together. We can do it, America. Bring it home, Barack.

I give him six months in office then he'll become as corrupt and toxic as the rest of them...

Sorry, have to keep it real folks.

@8, I hear you...and I started out as a serious HRC supporter so I've had to get to know this guy enough to support him; and every step of that journey has been a pleasure.

Please don't let this potential slip away from us...

Yeah, it's important to remain realistic but... isn't it nice to believe, even for a little bit?

I'm SO hopeful - and still afraid something awful will happen.

Early voting in VA is terribly difficult. I hope I'm sitting in line for HOURS on Nov 4. (I can replay that speech over and over in my mind!)

Barack Obama is a charismatic demagogue who ultimately wants government to run our lives and businesses with absolute power. He is positively frightening. No, I won’t vote for him - I don't drink Kool-Aid.

Wow, someone who actually talks to the American people and the rest of the world as if we're adults! What a change.

If he "loses", I'll be shooting, but it won't be smack....

@11: I understand your cynicism. But that's part of his message--it's not up to him, it's up to us. What the fuck are YOU going to do to keep the corruption from ruining it? What the fuck are we all going to do?

If we sit back and do nothing, then only those with deep pockets will swoop in and corrupt those in charge. Doesn't have to happen.

Do something, god damn it.

@22: Right, because the Republicans are all about freedom. Except, you know, for women, and gay people, and scary foreign types, and people who aren't evangelical Christians. Because freedom is all about having the government come in and tell you what kinds of medical procedures you can have and who you can marry. That sure sounds like freedom to me!

The fake Americans are the rich Liberals who "created" Obama the facade from thin air and now have fooled all of you into thinking he is some kind of Savior.

He's not.

He's way for the INs to keep on robbing the OUTS. It's a way for Bono to write for the New York Times about Gore funded by Branson who can keep polluting the earth and "taxing" everyone for the privilege.

Obama is the IN candidate.

He is the status quo.

The keep doing what your doing.

The OUT candidate, the innovator, the real leader is McCain.

I've been voting a long time and this is the first-time-ever, I've been this excited about a candidate. I have never felt prouder of anyone in politics than I do of Barack Obama, and yes, his wife and kids too! I spent last night thinking of what amazing, astounding, stupendous courage it has taken for him and his family to put themselves "out there". They know the dangers (evidenced by the two white supremacists who were in the news today after their arrest in the plot to kill 100 African-Americans and then go gunning for Obama). They know the dangers and they are still willing to try to help our country!

I saw some beautiful pictures of Obama and his family, candid photos that touched my heart. I want their family to be safe, I want them kept in a bullet proof place so that no fucking, rascist idiots can hurt them. I want anyone who could be that crazy to disappear from the face of the earth! I want Obama to be here to work this wondrous change that we know he is capable of. I want this so bad I can taste it, we all can. Hope-we've been waiting for it for one hell of a long time. Let's do this people!

there IS a difference between good public speaking and wisdom. given that the people that wrote that speech and he are part of the same machine; perhaps as of the 5th i won't mind being in the states for the first time in about seven years. vote and browbeat your neighbours to do so as well.

Someday we will all grow disillusioned with Obama. Someday we will all feel so very stupid for the way we liked this man. And that will be an unpleasant day.

But when that day comes, I will remember today, and regret nothing.

Every instance I see of people trying to cut into Obama, proclaiming him a socialist, a marxist, a terrorist (lots of "ists"), I marvel at their ignorance and then I feel better that I don't agree with people so abysmally stupid.

I don't think I've ever been this excited to vote for someone.

So I'm sitting in a motel in Butte, MT and the ancient couple next to me in the breakfast room are bitching loudly about how hard it is to live in an "ungodly" land that supports "socialism," as evidenced by the fact that MT may go for Obama.

They were saying "where can we move? Maybe Wyoming?" It was all music to my ears, until they decided that what we really need is a revolution to take the country back from the atheists and perverts. Sigh. I guess the secret service is going to really have to earn their money after Obama gets in.

i know of at least one house in seattle that is less pro-america than other parts of the country. our empire must fall, & our military must be cut by 2/3. because he is intelligent & practical, obama WON'T do the latter if he wants to get a 2nd term.
