hmmm tunrs out this system of letting people own and market and lease and develop private property is sorta flexible after all......
Last time people were whining about this B&O was like "OMG WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO FIND ANOTHER LEASE". Fuck them and their overpriced bullshit food and shitty service, and fuck that building, too.
That is a nice building housing B&O, but from all my experiences wit the cafe, it's hard to imagine anyone being up in arms over its loss.
Sure, ECB, but did you know about the B&O2 strategy?
No? Well, read about it here:

In the Weekly two years from now: "Washington Mutual's Future Uncertain".
It used to be fun to go out to the B&0 at 11:30 pm or later and get late night cakes and crazy lattes and coffees. To sit at the tables...each different and the tapestries.
But that was 1991.
The Last Good Year in Seattle.
The B&O has been kicking ass and taking names long since you moved to the suburbs, so check your math you fucking troll.
As I said, it used to be good before kid icarus started "taking names".
Ever since 1991, just angry suburban kids pretending to be homeless.
Is there a reason why you wrote this bitchy post, Erica? Perhaps you are setting the stage for a topless mud wrestling bout with Suzie?
Things just aren't the same since the wall fell, eh, Bailo?
(For what it's worth, you're a fool. The B&O clientèle is nothing like what you described, as no one in their right mind would come all the way from the suburbs to go to B&O. It seems to be mid-to-upper class white people that either drove from Montlake/Madrona or walked there from their condo. Where homelessness comes in, I don't know)
It was still a fun cool place until around 2005, then it just started going downhill. I was last there on a Saturday night in June, which should be prime business time, but it was practically empty *and* had shitty service to boot.
YEAH B&O WAS PRETTY SWEET RIGHT AROUND 1985. Reagan brought us all together over sweet sweet coffee.
God damn, will all the irrelevant old people who think their nostalgia matters get the fuck out?
You used to be able to get coffee and a slice of cake for under ten bucks there. Yeah, it was around 1985.
I got food poisoning from B & O two years ago. They were probably still serving the cake from 1985.
W7ngman, their cheescake and eclaires are the best things ever.
Are you guys talking about the Weakly?
The Weekly only keeps up with what's happening in West Seattle because half their staff lives there, so you can excuse their ignorance about the rest of the city. It's become the West Seattle Weekly.
I miss 1991 too.
I love the B&O. I've loved it since I was little, when it really was great. However, the savory food and the service are usually pretty crappy. The desserts are great though, and I love getting warm croissants in the morning on my way to work. It also happens to be about two and a half seconds from where I live.
sooo...the weekly staff reads the stranger about as often as the stranger staff reads slog...got it.
DILLETANTE CHOCOLATES IS GONE?!!
Greg, yes. They are closing lots of their shops. I think the one in Westlake center is still there.
That was supposed to be a joke, but thanks for the tip. I didn't know the Westlake one was still hanging on.
I thought you might really, truly love their hot chocolate, and you might need a fix!
prediction: a capitol hill eatery/bar/coffee shop is destined to close within the next 2.5 years.
you heard it here first. all other news outlets are shit.
