Slog - Comments on The Sum

Scientists using NASA’s RHESSI spacecraft have measured the roundness of the sun with unprecedented precision. They find that it is not a perfect sphere. Who in our day is surprised to learn that the sun is imperfect? Who? You? No, no. What would shock us to a million bits is the very opposite: that sun is a perfect shape, a perfect star at the center of a perfect system of planets, the third of which is just perfect for the final creation of the perfect form of life, the human being, the animal that looks up at the sky...

Yes the sun has flaws and limitations, too. Big duh.

Anyway, it's not the actual sun it's the idea of the sun that counts, in the Hegelian Platonic Marxist Obscurantist Mishmash smorgasbord served up daily by certain flawed, imperfect writers......

The sun makes my tomatoes perfect. Even when they are flawed unlike the illusion of perfectness in the supermarket.
I like imperfection.
Perfect is a fantasy. Nothing is perfect, just perfect for that moment and then it is over.
If your car is perfect then it is in an accident is it still perfect.
A "perfect day" is only perfect because it was not like the day before maybe, which was not so.
But one thing sounds perfect and that is "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed but I feel there is something sinister happening in that song like he is walking around stoned on heroin and that was his perfection at that time which is not someone else's. So perfect is like the word normal it is different from one person to another.
