Joe the Plumber running for Congress would be the perfect absurd capstone to his ridiculous narrative.

Oddly enough, even if he wins, he still would not make more than $250k.

First floor, ie ground floor, is a parking lot and I think a lobby. He lived on the first floor of actual units.

Walking by this morning it definitely looked like it started in the back of the building, and he lived in the front. Whoever was assuming he killed himself in the comments yesterday might want to rethink that.

Also wondering (like post #2) where the information about the couple claiming it was someone else came from. The article only says they plead not guilty.

Tyrone Wilingham is the antithesis to cocky. In an ethically acidic field he's one of few that puts honor and accountability above all else. It's undue to refer to him as such in the name of a clever headline.

@8 The law works in funny ways. If you plead not guilty, it doesn't mean that you are saying they didn't do it at all, it is saying you are not guilty of the crime you are accused of. Like, "we punished our daughter, but we felt that what we did was within reason."

and in your headline, "Fire came from the first floor�where the only resident lived", you are clearly insinuating that he killed himself.

@15. I don't think Dominic was inferring anything... he was just stating the facts. Actually, based on my casual knowledge of the circumstances (he was being evicted), I sort of assumed that he might have set the fire himself out of spite and then somehow couldn't get out.

I had the same reaction as #10- that woman deserves to be put away for way longer than three years! I hope this case spurs lawmakers to increase the maximum sentence for child abuse!

"�saying they weren�t the ones who locked up their 14-year-old daughter" See that word "saying"? That would normally mean they actually said that in their plea. You also made the link to the article be "they weren't the ones", which would normally imply I can find that at said link. There's a whole host of words or phrases you could have used instead of "saying" - "implying", "leading one to believe", yadda yadda.

Three years for starving a child? That girl will suffer the effects of this intentional mistreatment for the rest of her life.

These people have the privilege of spending the next several weeks out of jail while they argue "cause" and attempt to weasel out of a MAXIMUM sentence of THREE FUCKING YEARS?

Unbelievable. Un-fucking-believable. I almost hope there's more evidence of some other crime to add time to their sentence.
