I love the headline of the Reichert article "Web sites misrepresent Reichert's résumé". That is hilarious. As if Reichert had no idea what the Congressional Directory said about his background and could not possibly have corrected it...

Yeah, let's divert the hotel tax money to get new NBA team which won't attract anyone to the city to use the hotels. forget about improving our convention center...no we don't want 10s of millions of dollars from conventions coming in, we'd rather have an NBA team.

This is worse than the bullshit Frank Chopp did.

I obviously lose the internet race, but I had not seen the Christian the Lion video. I watched it and did, in fact, weep. Stupid animal videos get me every time.

it struck me that christian was unusually affectionate toward his mate and children for a male lion. in all the other footage i've seen of male lions in the wild, they are somewhat aloof with their families. i wonder if the guys taught him to be more loving than he would have been otherwise.

Oh my God, that HIV article is insane.

What the hell is wrong with people? A football team refusing to play with this school? People breaking up just because one of them goes there? At least 50 people being infected but no one knows how? AND THE TESTING ISN'T MANDATORY?
This shit is crazy.

Dear middle-of-the-country,
What's your fucking deal?

Maybe we should be directing this money to a place where tourists actually go... like pike place market anybody??

Well, the bonus is that we get $30 million dollars if we have funding committed for a stadium and there is no team by 2013. Plus, $150 mil is less than half of what we paid for the new Mariners stadium.

Fuck pro basketball and their extortion bullshit, don't fuck teenagers in Missouri, and Christian the lion is adorable.

Yeah, ye olde Big Black - the only band I remember liking that used a drum machine and was out about it. VIVA the Touch 'n' Go years!

Playful lions give me sore eyes, groovy forehead and curly hair. Please post more videos with playful crocodiles in them.

Coincidentally, I listened to "The Rich Man's 8-Track" on the bus this morning. Ready Men is still my favorite.

As to nukes, did you realize that Australia is spending BILLIONS to create a nation-wide plug-in capability for plug-in and all-electric vehicles?

Powered by nuclear plants.

Mind you, Australia is a major source of nuclear fuel, and currently uses mostly coal plants, so it's not a bad tradeoff ...

Okay, first off, I think that teenagers in Missouri need to get fucked too.

Secondly, the articles I've read (from stltoday.com) don't indicate whether it was sex-related. They say that the district has been mum about the cause. It could be just a lot of dirty needles. But it is very possible that it's the abstinence only sex-ed. I went to St. Louis Public Schools. And I learned nothing except what a penis and a vagina looked like when they were covered in various diseases (only worse-case scenarios at that).

The district in question is also one of the three lowest rated in the state. It's one of those cyclical- apathetic teachers, apathetic students, no sex ed- things.

I think I really would have loved the lion montage, except my head kept insisting that the men were Siegfried and Roy. Ack.

Jonah,

I almost forgot: thanks for the blast from the Big Black past!

Now find me a Dream Syndicate video, and I'll really be a happy little muppet!
