The Russians thought it was a good idea to get rid of Alaska, too, and they dumped it off on us. People thought it was crazy for the US to buy that land.

From an interested third party whose country already got screwed the first time Alaska was sold ("Where's the property line? Why, it's wherever the new owner says it is, neighbour!") I cannot get behind this idea. Sell 'em California:, when the big one hits and it slides into the Pacific, you won't be out anything.
