Stay Classy, Drudge

posted by on October 13 at 16:57 PM

The Drudge Report illustrates the headline “Obama goes door-to-door to drum up votes…” with this photo.

The connecting story features this photo. I have no idea where Drudge’s photo came from.

Whatever. Barack Obama is coming to your door to put his lips all over your sweet blonde wife or aunt or sister. Oooh, yeah.

"drump"?

Why would anyone go to Drudge's site in the 21st century?

I haven't gone to his site since 1997, can't even fathom a reason for going there, any more than I could going to FreeRepublic or AintItCoolNews

Can any reporter people explain why Drudge sets the agenda for every news editor in the nation?

If it'll help him get elected, Obama can sleep with my wife any time.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but the drudge report is the first site I check every day. I can't stand Matt Drudge, but I've been addicted to the drudgereport for years. When there is a disaster or some big scandal, it's ALWAYS there first. If someone can give me some better sites that update as often with breaking news, I promise I will try to give up the habit.

They (Fox, Drudge, etc) are so scared of not being spoon-fed exclusives, information, cabinet members to appear on their shows, (perhaps even payoffs?) that they are going to do ANYTHING to stop the opposition party from gaining power.

They're coming apart at the seems!

There are some really great pictures here, including Obama petting some dogs. Drudge is a douche.

I visit Drudge's site exactly as often as I visit Sullivan's site, which is never. I knew who these two hacks were in the '90s and everything they've done since has only confirmed that they are hypocrites and know-nothings of the highest order. I wasn't entertained by them then and I'm not interested in them now.

Honestly, I hate to say this but I can see that photo being used against him like the "call me, Harold" ad back in 2006.

What scares white men? Black men near hot white women.

@18 Apparently you don't read the absolute best polling and analysis site on the interwebs: fivethirtyeight.com. Nate Silver has been commenting on the Drudge spin for the past couple of days.

Hi all.
Well yes it's ever so important to constantly monitor the whole USA for every single racist sign and stuff but there was other news today.

Like the dow jones and market reaction around the world.
Oh and this the big Obama economic plan frollo out.
For those who care go check it out on politico, for those who don't just skip over yet another longish post.

Politico:
"Barack Obama on Monday sought to take ownership of the central issue of the presidential election, the economy, by rolling out what his campaign billed as a major new “economic rescue plan for the middle class.”"

Very cool. As been sayin.'

"a moratorium on home foreclosures,"

ayup as been sayin' -- this was originaly an HRC idea dontcha know?

they did it in the Depression, too. Ayup. Various states stopped foreclosures totally.

"a tax credit for companies that create jobs,"

eh fairly typical, but good

"a federal program to prop up struggling local governments"

very responsible

"a waiver of penalties for families that withdraw early from their retirement accounts."

hmm even McCain wanted that....

"Economists said much of the plan echoed earlier proposals made by Obama, congressional Democrats and state governments, and they gave the new planks mixed reviews, while supporters of Obama’s Republican rival John McCain predicted it would result in higher taxes and more debt.

But Obama told more than 3,000 supporters at a convention center in this struggling city that quick government action is urgently needed to avert “a dark and painful recession.”

“We can’t wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now,” he said.

At times, the crowd seemed to tune out as Obama ticked off the details of his plan."

Well yeah it's got no fight in it no tale no moral theme no fucking villian no overarching message.

Dear Obama:
you were better when you said you were fighting for the middle class and you had the big idea of getting away from the failed philosophy of the last eight years.

Pls. get back on message! The vision thing! Stop with boring wonky lists!

Thank you.

Your bestest supporter in Seattle,

While some pundits say that the Bradley Effect is in abeyance Drudge appears to be trying to dredge it back up from the slime. He knows where to find it because he dwells in the same ooze.

isn't that Elizabeth Shue?

The woman in the photo is my friend the Rev. Angela Zimmann. She's the Democratic precinct captain in the neighborhood where Obama was campaigning when this photo was taken. Her account of this encounter is at http://clergy4obama.wordpress.com/2008/10/13/listening-listening-listening/

The difference between Drudge and Keith Olbermann is that Drudge--like him or not, and I don't--engages in actual journalism, rather than being an entertainer.

As far as the pic goes, it's a nice pic, and not at all anything nasty or menacing about it, and it seems to have come from a thoroughly positive and upbeat event. If Mr Obama doesn't object, and Ms Zimmann doesn't object, then so what? Or do we need to engage in censorship based on what a bunch of yahoos might think?
