City SeaTac International Airport In Security Lockdown?
posted by October 30 at 11:11 AM
onThis just in from Hot Tipper Janna:
A friend is at SeaTac airport which, he reports on his blog, is in security shutdown, though he has no word on why. Here’s the entry and, knowing him, he’ll continue to report as he gets news.
The news so far, from blogger Jay:
Sea-Tac is in a security lock down. No flight operations, everything is frozen. No further info. Group of writers trapped at C2D.
Stay tuned.

Doesn't seem that way to me. I'm looking out my window at planes taking off.
Eyeball guy causing a commotion?
Other local news reports security breach and it's now over.
Some dickhead was probably late for his flight and bolted the security checkpoint. It happens at least daily.

Also note the image of an atom over the Iranian flag.
Scaremongering at its finest.
dang, wrong comments section. heh.
A Stranger Genius award winner must have been on the premises.
Someone is a fucking idiot:
The lockdown began at about 9:37 a.m. when a passenger's bag set off an alarm during primary screening and the passenger became separated from the bag, said Transportation Security Administration spokesman Dwayne Baird.
The lockdown remained in effect while security officials reviewed surveillance video to try to match the bag with the missing passenger.
Once the passenger was found, the bag went through secondary screening and was determined not be a security threat.
The lockdown was then lifted, at about 10:30 a.m.
If you haven't read The Atlantic's piece on why airport security theater is a total sham, you should do so now:

Airport "security" isn't security at all; it's a show put on to fool the public. A real terrorist can easily get aboard any plane without any trouble at all any time he wants. No-fly lists, ID checks, baggage screening, liquid restrictions -- they're all bullshit. Pour gasoline in a bottle marked "contact lens solution" and you can carry it right through, for starters.
@10: B-but Fnarf, next you'll be telling me the Placebrex my doctor prescribed to curb my Homeland Security-related panic attacks aren't actually helping!
I don't know about you, but methinks blogger Jay could score us some low-grade hydroponic pot.
I knew I shouldn't have left that laptop running the ticking time bomb animation.
Sorry ....
Fnarf, I'll assume you already read Ask The Pilot, but if you don't, you can find him here. He always has something...animated to say about current "security" measures from a pilot's POV.
and, actually, Fnarf's right.
the only really effective security is the passengers being willing to toss a blanket on top of hijackers and pummel them into submission.
superwill in seattle...
@13 normal for you... (i.e.: NOT FUNNY)
@15 i'm SURE you're right. what, were you an air marshal, or did you teach that technique to all the brave people who protect the passengers?
no wait! i'll bet YOU invented it!
please tell us what the training was like, 'cause i KNOW that you're the expert of everything!
just STFU already, you pathetic douche.
