Re: The Horrible

posted by on October 19 at 10:48 AM

Sarah Palin’s supporters will say that her appearance on last night’s SNL proves that she can laugh at her self, that she has “poise, humor, and strength” (seriously, poise?!). But all I saw last night was someone who has wanted for her whole life little more than to be on television. This is when Palin appears happiest: reading the teleprompters under the bright lights. All her politics is merely a means to this end.

Oh, and she was less funny than the goat.

seriously, she didn't DO anything except read a few statements and dance in her chair during amy's song about her. wtf was the point of that? her appearance had "dumb stunt" written all over it. or something that rhymes with "stunt" perhaps....?

I was hoping SNL would blindside her on live TV, but I guess they took the high road.

Whatever; that's why she'll be great in her new role on Fox TV next year, once she's ousted as AK governor.

Like I keep saying, the lady wants to be Katie Couric. I, mean her dream job is "weather bunny" not VP. I bet we could get her to drop out of the race if we offered her a spot on "The View". Seriously, she could be the next Sherri "is the earth flat?" Shepherd or Elisabeth "Survivor Reject" Hasselbeck

I have to admit, S. Palin would be the perfect replacement for Bush jr. She's got the "values" and "war on terror" rhetoric that’s so effective at stirring the mob down pat and she'd prob be easier for her handlers to manage than George ever was. I agree with you completely on the one-dimensional quality of her character that comes out whenever she is the center of attention (see her semi-regular "Palin/McCain 2008" Freudian slips or how uncomfortable she looks when standing behind McCain at rallies) and I know things look good for us lefties in the polls these days but this SNL stunt needs to be taken as a reminder against complacency. Television is a powerful medium of communication and I firmly believe that many American's can't tell the difference between TV news and entertainment. Love her or hate her, she was on the television of 20 million people last night and that’s not a good thing for anyone

The fact that Sarah Palin would go on SNL, while refusing to do any legitimate interviews and press conferences, is further proof that the McCain campaign is one of the most poorly run political blunders of modern times.

She is running for Vice President of the United States of America, not fucking prom queen.

It's true. Her narcissism makes her a natural entertainer, and an unpredictable politician. Television is the universe where she belongs, not politics.

Hopefully, now that she'll realize that she's famous enough to live comfortably as a celebrity, and she'll give up the uncomfortable duties of public service.

Palin is absolutely free of the confines of self-awareness.

It's freaking me out that someone new, above, is posting on Slog as "V" this year. Perhaps I should have been more original...

Just keep de-fanging Governor McCarthy, Lorne, and you just might have to spring for that spaceflight Tina threatened to take if Mc/Palin win.

I'll admit, I was charmed by Palin putting her hands up during the rap. However, all I think this has all proven is that she's a good entertainer and that's all.

I loved the Amy Poehler rap.

So if someone can read a Teleprompter, that's bad. Presumably if someone couldn't read a Teleprompter, that would also be bad.
So, we get it. Teleprompters create badness. Junk 'em all then.

"seajay, what the hell are you talking about?"

I was referring to this comment.

"This is when Palin appears happiest: reading the teleprompters under the bright lights. All her politics is merely a means to this end."
