Slog - Comments on "Premature Articulation" http://slog.thestranger.com/2008/10/premature_articulation Unhappy with my Red Scare piece in this week's paper, Goldy over at Horsesass is accusing me of having prematurely articulated all over the current Stranger (and of having sullied eastside Democrat Darcy Burner's good name and strong electoral chances in the process). He's even more annoyed at Time Magazine's Amy Sullivan, who also turned a critical eye on Burner recently, suggesting that Netroots people like Goldy are dragging Burner down. I don't think the Netroots are as bad for Burner as Sullivan suggests, and of course I'm not not endorsing Goldy's description of me as a premature articulator (though... Don't worry about them, Eli, it's not your fault Darcy has nothing to offer for the majority of voters in her district. The Nutroots will never seem to learn they are the fringe, and the more blindly attached they & Goldy are to candidates with limited appeal, the more extreme they will look. Elections are popularity contests, kids.


The only local candidate who has a chance and deserves to win is Gregoire. Go help her out.

During the primaries, the netroots glommed onto the candidate that pandered to them the most (Edwards and later Dodd), just as they always do in a primary, while hectoring Obama for not kissing their ring.

When he became successful, they were pissed that he'll owe them nothing come January.

And as it happens, Whiny Ass Titty Baby Supreme Matt Stoller is the perfect example for this phenomena.

BTW, we're coming up on the one year anniversary of the demise of the Obama campaign as declared by Chris Bowers.

I read OpenLeft regularly, but it has always seemed to me that their front-pagers have never understood the Obama campaign's strategy whatsoever, because what they want is a red meat populist.
