FACT: Jamie Moyer is the classiest, coolest guy in baseball, PERIOD. Nothing else in this entire sorry season matters except the stone cold FACT that Jamie Moyer has a World Series ring and A-Rod does not.

As a goddamn Phillies fan, I was totally moved to tears by this experience. Growing up loving the Phillies got me trained to love the Ms, since winning wasn't really a priority for the Phils, either. Until now. Sweet, sweet day.

Yep, I couldn't believe it when I saw Moyer pitch...all those lousy seasons in Seattle.

He's yet another talent from a Seattle team who experienced mediocrity in the Emerald City...only to find success elsewhere...

I once had a dream about Jamie Moyer. We were in the front yard playing catch, smiling and having a great ol' time. It was one of those sunny warm evenings, where summer and fall intermingle and everything was right with the world.

There was no other part. That was it.

Watching Jamie pitch in this Series was a delight. Every time he tossed one of those goddamned 78 mph wtf's I laughed and laughed with joy.

He's a prince among men and I miss him.

Don't forget the guy in charge of the Phillies, GM Pat Gillick. The Mariners basically kicked out Pat Gillick, who was responsible for the Mariners best years of 2000-2003, and hired Bill Bavasi, the baseball version of Dino Rossi (and the M's worst GM ever). The Mariners had every advantage over the Phillies a few years ago -- money, scouting, young talent, fan and player loyalty. It could have easily been the M's winning the World Series in alternate-universe land.

Moyer won that game, the blind drunk umpire totally blew that call at first base.

I tip my cap to the Phillies. Their starting pitching was better and their bullpen remained a strength through the Series. The Rays line-up sputtered and that's what cost them. I'm also happy for Moyer and only wish the Chief was still there with him to get a ring.

As an American League fan, I do take solace that the Rays -- a team sunk repeatedly over the years in the League's toughest division with 10-game losing streaks -- played their way past the Yankees and Sox through the length of the season without crapping their pants. It's a victory in itself and the poke in the eye to the establishment that was is consolation enough for me.

I loved the match-up and was excited to witness a revolution in baseball -- a changing of the guard and of the way teams are put together -- get highlighted as it was in the big series.

I often used to have dreams about Jamie Moyer and Dan Wilson...together...sigh. But that's just on top on the fact that he's a great ball player and upstanding person.

Bailo, not only are you an idiot regarding politics, you don't know squat about baseball either. Jamie was an excellent pitcher for most of his Mariners career. In 11 seasons with Seattle he had a record of 145-87. He won 20 games in 2001, 13 (with an ERA of 3.32) in 2002 and went 21-7 in 2003 and was voted to the All-Star team.

And only one Mariners pitcher ever has won 20 games in a season more than once. And no, it ain't Randy Johnson.

Really, John, is there any subject you can speak of with a modicum of understanding?

Jamie is all kinds of awesome and I am happy for him. He, his wife, and their seven kids, (some adopted) still live in the Seattle area. No, not the east side but the actual city. Their foundation is based here too.

I take so much shit from people here for being a Philadelphia fan (Chester County, orig.)...booing players, etc. When I lived in Boston, Sox fans would keep their mouths shut. They knew we cared as much.

The way I explain it is this: in Philly, we don't root for the players. The players play for the Phillies, the team being Philadelphia's and therefore, ours.

We'll get 100% behind you if we feel like you're giving your all for us. If you pull it off like the 2008 roster did, you'll be gods in the Delaware Valley for the rest of your life. Utley, Hamels, Blanton, even Burrell, will have Philly's love & loyalty for the rest of their lives.

But if we feel like you're being a shitty player we'll let you have it. Manny wouldn't have gotten away with his shit on Broad St.

Jamie Moyer was a class act when he was here, and he's a class act now. His finally getting his WS ring was literally the only thing I gave a shit about in this Series.

This year was good medicine for the Rays. It's a boost of confidence that's going to last. Everybody got to play in big games all year. Even the little tiny guy got a couple of huge stolen bases in the playoffs. They'll be good to go next year and beyond.

I got nothing against Philly. I've been there. No bs to it. Reminded me of Beantown in places. I'm happy for the Phills. I'm sure the Rays are envious of how well they played. Now bring on the Eagles and let's see if our hospital ship of a team can stop 'em.
