I pray that President Obama does not have a full-blown economic depression to clean up, as well as Cheney's war, crumbling infrastructure, no energy policy, borrow-and-spend fiscal policy, and non-grammatical run-on sentences.

A very reasonable, well-written endorsement. But I can't help but wonder if Palin's talent for stepping on whoever she feels she must in her relentless quest for power isn't one of the reasons behind the willingness of so many of Alaska's power brokers to turn on her. She seems to be a master of burning bridges.

Palin is a grifter. She's fed at the trough and fattened her family and friends at taxpayers' expense. this is a person to admire, Alaskans? It must be a whole state of grifters.

Thanks for changing the title. For a second I was wondering what the hell Gregoire had to do with this.

In the last month I've grown to really love the Anchorage Daily News. Their Palin coverage has been outstanding (as has their Stevens, Murkowski, and Young coverage; are there ANY honest Republicans in Alaska? Or are the conservatives right when they say welfare breeds dependency and then crime?)

The ADN has been a terrific newspaper for as long as I can remember (back into the early 80s).

The Daily News endorsement of Obama is no surprise. There's a lot of talk of this being an oddity coming from the major paper of Gov. Palin's state. But editorially, the Daily News always been a liberal-leaning paper in a fairly conservative state. Back in the 80s and early 90s there was a huge battle between the ADN and the conservative, pro-development Anchorage Times that ended with the Times going out of business. As part of a joint-agreement, the Times' editorial voice remained for many years in the ADN as a counter-point.

Ironically, what remains online of the Veco/Bill Allen-backed Voice of the Times is just today going out of "business." For a look at a Palin supportin' Alaskan "news" outfit, check out the rotting corpse of the Voice of the Times. Now if they had endorsed Obama, that would have been something noteworthy.

It is only because they are black.

Why does the media insist on calling Obama the "first black" anything, when his bloodline is only 50% black?

I'm all for him, don't get me wrong...he's got my vote locked up. But it seems a disservice somehow to not mention the biracial aspect of his background.

Or maybe that's just me. He's not black, he's not white. He is US.

Nice of them to endorse Obama. But:

Gov. Palin has shown the country why she has been so successful in her young political career. Passionate, charismatic and indefatigable, she draws huge crowds and sows excitement in her wake. She has made it clear she's a force to be reckoned with, and you can be sure politicians and political professionals across the country have taken note. Her future, in Alaska and on the national stage, seems certain to be played out in the limelight.

I'm not really sure that the ADN got it completely right.

Now there was something about a certain pipeline for natural gas...
