October Surprise, Washington Edition?

posted by on October 27 at 18:45 PM

Republican Dino Rossi will be deposed before the election:

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi must give a deposition before Election Day as part of a lawsuit alleging illegal campaign spending by his biggest backer, the Building Industry Association of Washington.

King County Superior Court Judge Paris Kallas said the public interest demands that Rossi give his answers before, not after, the election is over, and accordingly granted a request for expedited discovery in the case. Rossi’s deposition was scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Hey! That's the judge that married me and my husband. Does she never stop doing me favors?! What a nice lady!

In the end Gregoire is still going to loose lousy candidate lousy campaign. Notice the Obama/Gregiore campaign sign ratio vs the McCain/Rossi campaign sign ration.

I literally pass dozens of Obama signs every day I have seen maybe two McCain signs this entire campaign. On the flip side I see dozens of Rossi signs especially up in the north end (Kenmore, Bothell, etc) and have seen an occasional Gregoire sign (usually with an Obama sign).

Based on this horribly unscientific observation I'm betting that Obama will win Washington and Gregiore will loose Washington.

Enjoy your gridlock and EPA warnings, Eastside!

In a twisted way thats actually reassuring. Who gives a shit if they get light rail or whatever. Ima get all NIMBY too. F*ck em. Unless it takes funding from Metro/ST, which Rossi loathes. I think the media should do an expose about how Seattle as a city will be punished under a Rossi regime. I think the American people would be interested in such an expose.

Where are the hearts that bleed...now that an Italian-American is being discriminated against because of his heritage?

Not in hypocrittle, Wash-IN-TON.

Not only an Italian, but a ROMAN CATHOLIC. I don't want any mackerel snappers in the Governor's mansion.

That's right Bailo.

I don't hate Rossi for being against civil rights, against women's rights, anti-transit, anti-science, anti-environment, and totally in the pocket of the BIAW.

No. None of that. I hate him because he's Italian.

*rolls eyes*

Seattle's anti-Italianess has come bubbling up to the surface.

In Queens, New York, from where I hale, there is a great pizza place on almost every major intersection.

Seattle? You have to look up "Best Pizza" in a magazine and then call them and have them deliver it.

Sheesh...you can't just stroll up while waiting for the bus and lean into the open counter from the sidewalk and get a slice of Sicilian.

This to me speaks louder than words!

Seattle is using defamatory and prejudicial tactics to stop an Italian man from taking over.

Because he will free us from the slavery of Gregoirianism.

My god! That witch deserves to lose this election. Talk about dirty politics! Looks like the Dems will attempt to win at any cost, even if it takes assistance from the courts.

I'm completely disgusted to live in this state any longer.

Geesshhhh

For a minute I was overcome with joy. Then I realized I had confused the meaning of deposed and defenestrated.

Hey Bailio-old-boy head back to Queens if you miss it so much.

Rossi is a creepy and low hitting fucker. Bring him back to New Yawk if you can.

Sort of off topic, but I was reading the really bizarre comment by Bailo today about anti-Italian sentiment and I felt like I absolutely had to know more about this guy. So I dug around some on-line and I found some pretty interesting things about Bailo, for instance this gem from an old "diary" of his about how he believes there are zombies in the world :

"I think there are zombies in the world. I felt this many years ago, flying into Kennedy Airport. This was before 9/11. There was just this feeling that everyone there was dead. Obviously walking around and all, but there was just no consciousness there...mere automata. I thought, I'm glad I live in Seattle -- people are really alive there."

Who knew Bailo actually liked Seattle?! Also, did you know that Bailo hates being called Sir and has complained to Starbucks about it because he feels it's the equivalent of using racial slurs? He even wrote this letter to the PI about it:

"Go into any Starbucks. If you are above a certain age, the person at the counter will greet you as "Sir". This is not a term of respect (although, if I launched a suit against them, they would claim such). It is a term of age discrimination. It's the same, to me, as long ago when a Black man might be called "Boy" and no one would bat an eyelid. No one at Starbucks will admit or condemn this behavior. I have written 10 customer complaints but to no avail (except for a few free latte coupons)."

He also loves Linux, apparently. And his favourite radio station used to be the '80's station at 92.5 FM which, ironically perhaps, is now a vintage hip-hop station of sorts. But you know what's really interesting when you google him? He writes angry letters to pretty much everyone. You can find ridiculous statements by him on the websites for the Seattle Times, the PI, the New York Times, Microsoft tech support, various Linux pages, political blogs on every end of the spectrum, environmental pages, transit pages, Starbucks pages, and so on. I don't know if anyone else read the recent article in the Seattle Weekly about the man who for several years has been writing letters with corrections of various errors both real and imagined to major newspapers across the country, but Bailo would appear to be a spiritual equivalent. And how did those papers eventually respond to the insane barrage of letters coming from him? They ignored him until he stopped.

I think the real issue here is Bailo's anti Nordic-ness.

I jumped the tracks when he threw legitimate businesspeople under the bus.

Some of us are PROUD of that aspect of our family history-- just because you're a skeeze doesn't mean the rest are.

Oh, and then his "LOLinjuns" reply to the Casino Chris ads.

@21,

I guess Bailo has never heard of Garlic Gulch, or frequented well-loved Seattle establishments such as DeLaurenti's or Borrachini's. Yup, Seattle's a regular hotbed of anti-Italian sentiment (well, notwithstanding one murder at Fort Lawton, oh, 60+ years ago).

Y'all can add that to the 20,000+ page list of things he doesn't know...
