Obligatory Sports Post of the Day

posted by on October 24 at 16:26 PM

First, the bad news:

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will miss his third consecutive game, coach Mike Holmgren said on his radio show this morning on 710 AM (KIRO).

That means Seneca Wallace will start his second straight game, in San Francisco on Sunday. If Seattle loses, it will be 1-6 for the first time since 1992, a year the Seahawks finished 2-14.

I think I’ve figured out why the Hawks’ season is as fucked up as Willis McGahee’s eye:

God’s wrath.

Mack Strong already got his ass smote last season. I guess it was Hass’s (and everyone else’s) turn. This is also why Leonard Weaver never gets the damn ball.

See also: Peyton Manning.

Brady Quinn, you’re next.

God is a democrat. Fact.

The only team to ever get Seattle a ring has moved, the M's were the first 100 loss 100 million dollar team and Holmgren is leaving while the window is being shut on a Super Bowl for the Haws. Yet some Seattle sports fans still believe in God?

Bad call, Matt. This is a blue town and we don't like it when you shove your republican politics in our face. I am still a Hawks fan but I don't care if you ever play here again. Go Seneca!

What I'd like to know is why Peyton Manning is ruining my fantasy football season. Dubs.

John Elway introduced McCain at a rally in Denver today. The Broncos are doomed!

Just be glad you can't get relegated out of the NFL. We'd be playing the Omaha Cornholers in front of 1200 fans in the Farm League next year.

The only mistake Holgrem made was not starting Wallace from the get go this season and letting him play all the preseason.

Hasselbeck should be traded to a more robust team, so that his talents don't get squandered any more. I thought the Pats should have picked him up when Brady got hurt.

How does one account for Tony Dungy's Super Bowl victory in 2007?

There's plenty of room on the bandwagon, kids. You don't have to be from Chicago, but it helps.

A confirmed liberal who used to tease Purdue coach Joe Tiller about his leanings toward President Bush, Orton nowadays keeps his convictions a little closer to the vest as he strives to separate the personal and professional aspects of his life.

"Football's a job, and it's best to just stick to work and leave everything else out of it," Orton said. "I've learned to do that stuff with my friends and family and leave it at that."

PS -- I don't give a damn about football, but I do love that word "smote".

If this is true, Eli Manning must have endorsed Obama. How else could they remain 5-1 and more than likely clinch the NFC East? I think I love Eli that much more. GO GIANTS!

Kyle Orton has a neck beard. Neck beards are lame.

What is it with jocks being Republicans. As much as a prize my Steve Largent jersey, I always feel a bit sick in my stomach because of his politics.

Correction:

Orton HAD a neckbeard. He HAS a 91.4 qb rating and a 4-3 record. Your QB, on the other hand, has a man crush on George W, a 1-5 team, and a vapid sister-in-law.
