I know there’s a lot of Maddow love here on Slog. So here’s a brief preview of tonight’s big interview, in which she tries (and apparently fails) to get Obama to say something mean about Republicans:
Is this really the level our public discource has reached? Educated people speaking to each other in a reasonable tone with complete sentences? It's disturbing, and not the America I know.
Ellen in the daytime doing happy talk is the hottest thing in the business. Rachel in the nighttime doing serious talk is the hottest thing in the business. The smartest, most talented, most liked people on tv both day and night are mature, level-headed, pleasant-looking lesbians.
Ten years ago, would you have thought this would be remotely possible?

Maddow is obviously no journalist because she answered "much to your chagrin" in the affimative. I prefer anchors who keep their political choices to themselves (R or D), or at least make an effort to do so.
One thing that sucks about Maddow: guest hosting her show on AirAmerica, Ron Reagan let opponents to I-1000 spread their lies and didn't give proponents a chance to respond.
"Rachel in the nighttime doing serious talk is the hottest thing in the business."
Bwahahaha, she barely beats that corpse on CNN and even some nights she can't and she's on a bankrupt radio network and a cable channel with no ratings that gets trounced by Fox.

Is this really the level our public discourse has reached? Partisan hacks baiting our supposed leaders into saying something, anything bad about the other side. Am I supposed to feel good knowing that our side has it's own Sean Hannity? Sad.
I love that Rachel brings out the haters! Nothing says success as much as the Republican shills, paid (hi, 10!) or otherwise, going on the attack. I'm very glad she's touched a nerve -- that has seriously made my day.
Not a journalist? Exactly. She's not. Guess that's why she doesn't claim she is. Good for you for catching that! She's a pundit -- just like Pat Buchannan, only not insane. Don't like it? Good. Abrams was better? Tell that to the ratings.
And sad, sad 14. She "barely beats" a tv icon after being on the air for a couple of months. Wow, what a failure. You want her to win her timeslot against all comers? Give her another couple of months; the night's still young.
Yep, she appears only on a financially-troubled radio network and a cable news channel up against the Fox scream machine and she's still a star. AND she's respected! Hurts you like hell, doesn't it?
Yay! The crazies hate Rachel! Yay!

I can't understand the first thing Obama said.
"Munch a turd, shaolin," I believe is what he said.
@1 I think it's "much to your chagrin".
Holy shit balls --- she's had her show for something like 2 months and she's landed the hopeful President Elect?
THAT's gotta feel good.
(Loves it.)

"Self identified Republicans" translate: Democrats in the Closet. Please leave the Homos out of this.

i'd hit that.
I am so sick of Ellen's white person dancing! Give it a rest already.
Speaking of female newscasters, does anyone else get as irritated by Campbell Brown as I do?
