Ha! Love it. Too bad it's so fucking expensive.

Hey Jen -- in a Depression, do art prices go down? I'm hoping...

Currently going for $600; which I think would be better spent donated directly to the campaign.

Personally, I wouldn't have modeled it after Neo in the Matrix. Since the Matrix seemed so promising initially and then devolved into a hot mess of awfulness after the first movie.

Forget that you know who Leavitt is. Just view the figurine for what it is. Adjectivally, the figurine seems: historical, indigenous, well composed, pastoral, anthropological, ethnic, ritualistic, natural (not too posed or art-directed).

Stare at it, integrate your own adjectival list into feeling. There is a Beauty that becomes undeniable.

This is an incredible figurine [so good as to be “not credible”]. That it is credible, though, is the stuff that takes one’s breath away.

From the listing: "The original sculpture will be auctioned to generated funds for Obama's election campaign."

Looks pretty reasonable to me. Leavitt is an internationally acclaimed artist. Who else can you buy that shows internationally for under $1000?

@2 - from the eBay site: "The original sculpture will be auctioned to generated funds for Obama's election campaign."

As an art collector, I have to say I like it, even though it's of a candidate I'm unlikely to vote for. I may bid on it. We'll see how nutsoid the bidding gets. I'm not gonna go up against someone who's willing to fork over twenty grand for it.

isweatbutter: why is he white in that one? He doesn't even have his mole... obviously a crude, non-artistic representation.

That is a happy-meal like doll, this is art. If you can't tell the difference, then you are lame and Trig-like.

Gee, Mike Leavitt might be risking his cush job as Health and Human Services Secretary by marketing such a pro-Obama piece.

All the weird red & white tentacles on the bottom makes him look like a peppermint Kraken.

Nice try Bees. My poop looks more accurate than "that one". I suppose you need your racist Palinite filter on to see the resemblance?
