Uncle Tom, Race Traitor, etc etc.

Yeah slog, you're keeping it real classy and open minded. God forbid someone of color votes for a republican or against barack. Identity politics is so hypocritical.

What about the contents of Obama's character is he insinuating?

I don't see how you can really argue with "don't vote for someone just because they're black". So, in that sense, I have no issues with this.

But, you sort of have to have a reason to vote for the other guy. At this point, I would be hard-pressed to even play devil's advocate and come up with a valid reason why someone might vote for McCain.

Glad we can count on you, Bellvue Ave, to keep things classy.

So I'm not supposed to vote for McCain because he's white?

I guess that's going to mean a lot of racists will be switching to Obama, now.

This is just a sneaky racist ad with the message that it's ok for white people to vote color because a black dude says it is.

See, now THAT's how McCain should have been driving his propaganda from the beginning. Because it's light and upbeat, but manages to suggest that Obama regularly prefaces his appearances with "WHERE MY N****S AT?!!!"

i feel that it is fair play to call this guy uncle tom/race traitor/kapo etc... simply because the ad doesn't give us anything substantial to judge against obama's character. instead it insinuates that everyone who supports obama does so because he's black, and that we should all look to obama's character instead. well, i for one have looked at what i can see of both men's characters, not to mention their running mates, and i feel that mccain has demonstrated a profound willingness to sell out, misinform, race bait, and shill. these are not indicators of a strong character. obama on the other hand has been steady and deliberate, and i feel that he has run an amazing and classy campaign. all symptoms of strong character and abilities. so, to those who cooked up this ad: fuck you.

if you put a black guy on tv, and have him say nothing of substance other than "it's ok not to vote for a black candidate because, well, martin luther king, and look at me, i'm black too" then that guy has, i think, sold out his race. if he wants to argue policy, then he can do that, and it would be different. but this ad doesn't say anything.

sorry, that was kinda ranty.

He doesn't even look BLACK. Come on people, this Italian looking Black guy is really going to work?

Dunno what to say about this guy, but think about the quote - if it's content of character we're talking about, he really wants to vote for the guy whose content of character features pandering to the most toxic, divisive and hateful impulses of voters? And the running mate who seems to think ethics don't matter as long as you crush the competition? The ticket of candidates that sit idly by while their followers call for assassinating their opponents? You can make all the guilt-by-association claims that you want, but if you want to vote on character, the choice ought to be pretty clear right now.

"I am black. Just so you know I am black... keep that in your head that I am black.... I am not voting for Obama just because he is black too, because skin color doesn't matter... but my point is relevant and I am placed in this commercial because I am black."

Fuck that noise... I'm calling bullshit on his spray-on tan.

Let's get into a character debate about McCain! Dude cheated on his sick wife and left her for another woman. McCain was one of the KEATING 5. Hello, the god damn KEATING 5! Yah, let's talk about character! Fuck! I'm so sick of Republicans and their bullshit politics as usual. Rot in hell motherfuckers!

Worse than this guy are the black Obama supporters who didn't take the time to register to vote this year. I have two black friends who didn't register and therefore won't be able to vote for Obama in this historic election. It boggles my mind that they don't want to be a part of this.
