The editorial board of Salt Lake Tribune writes: The next U.S. president will lead a nation that remains embroiled in two wars and is beset by an economic meltdown more severe than any since the Great Depression. By necessity, the country's next commander in chief must also be its mender in chief, capable of inspiring his angry and divided constituents to join together in a recovery project to restore the peace, prosperity and self-confidence we once knew. We fear that a lesser effort may be insufficient to reverse America's slide toward economic, political and societal chaos. The times require...

After discussing this with a friend from SLC, I'm a little sad to report that the Tribune is the more liberal of the newspapers in Salt Lake, although it's still more conservative than the running average in the country.

That picture is proof positive of what I posted earlier. Uber-religious chix - especially Mormon chix - are hot. I boned a Mormon babe once and she couldn't get enough. I pushed her around the room like a wheelbarrow!

Comment by Seattle

Having spent the first 23 years of my life in the SLC area, let me tell you the SL Tribune is the paper for non-mormons. Mormons read the church-owned, Deseret News. Remember that SLC is quite a bit different than the rest of Utah. Remember when SLC mayor Rocky Bernard was in Seattle protesting Bush and the war?

I am from Salt Lake. I just flew back from Salt Lake today having spent the weekend there. I was nervous as hell when I arrived, but I once I was in the city I was delighted to discover a plethora of Obama/Biden signs, bumper stickers, etc. I did not see one McCain/Palin sign, nor did I speak with (or eavesdrop on) a single McCain supporter. This is, of course, the opposite of what's going on in every other town in Utah, but i just thought I'd let you know, it seems like SLC's heart is in the right place.

This is fantastic. I check the SL Tribune's op-ed page every so often to take the pulse of the city I grew up in and today when it loaded I yelped so loud in surprise and joy that my very startled cat may never come out from under the bed.

This may be the "liberal" paper in Utah but it is no NYTimes and endorsed Bush TWICE :(. They are finally redeeming themselves. Obama may not win Utah, but I'll bet he wins Salt Lake City. This is wonderful, doubly so that the sltrib blog has a link to the stranger. I love it when my former home, the land of LDS and mountains, behaves like my new home, the land of rain and coffee.
