The true comix nerds in here will remember a contemporary of Miller's by the name of Howard Chaykin. And likely defend him, god help them.


I'd love to blame it all on DC and Marvel, but Miller and Chaykin were both on indie labels at the time. As was Dave Sim (yeah, I know. Still). And then there was that arm of hometown favorite Fantagraphics that no-one will give more than passing acknowledgment to, to this day— the comics-porn imprint Eros.


Yeah, well, the whole thing is still slithering along. Wasn't it just a couple of minutes ago that Miller won mad praise for that definitely-not-homoerotic pean to right-wing militarism?
