2008 Mr. Poe’s Crush Comes Through

onFlorida governor Charlie Crist—the Republican closet case who got himself engaged to a real lady with real lady parts in the hopes that John McCain might pick him for VP—just “blew Florida for John McCain.”
Florida Governor Charlie Crist, to the shock and dismay of Florida Republicans, just moved to extend early voting hours, a move likely to widen the Democrats’ lead under a program on which the Obama campaign has intensely focused.“He just blew Florida for John McCain,” one plugged in Florida Republican just told me.

My heart...broken.
It's like Debbie Does Dallas, but election-like.
Let's follow this logic trail:
IF...Mr. Poe blew Charlie Crist
AND...Charlie Crist blew Florida
THEN...Mr. Poe blew Florida.
Be sure to wipe your chin, Poe!
It's a sad and sorry state of affairs when a Republican's chances are "blown" by allowing more people to vote.
Just for the record, Gov. Crist denies blowing Florida and says that he is perfectly happy at home with his "fiancee."
Great comment demo kid, how true!!
@5 Win!
The question is, did he gargle Texas for McCain too?
just for the record, 5, i believe the proper spelling in this case is "financee"
Pathetic Rs. Good on Crist, but too late for mt family, who waited 2 hours in the heat to do early voting.
It's nice to see Florida Republicans openly admitting that voter suppression is a Republican vote-stealing ploy.
He just blew ALL of Florida? Or just the other closet cases?
@8 for the win!
I broke the story first.
I am non-plussed and hope my gay brother doesn't vote in both NYC and in Florida where he owns property, cause he thinks McCain is keen.
Bellevue Ave, you broke the story at 1:49 pm, this was posted at 1:40.
Like I said; First.
@17 - That sounds like Republican logic to me. Is there something you'd like to tell us?
Vote early vote often?
Bellevue Ave forced me to vote for McCain when we filled out our ballots! He said if I didn't he wouldn't let me continue to wear shoes in the kitchen (only during holidays of course!), and that I'd have to be his personal TV tray during dinner from now on! While facing him, of course (you know why!).
Anything that makes those rats faced Republicans lose and lose big is o.k. with me.A day after a guilty verdict for Sen. Ted Stevens, things seem to be going in the right direction for a blow out.
Translation: "Fuck you for not picking me over that idiot Palin."
Payback's sumbitch.
Now that was a good post, Susan.
PC's awesome zings stand out beautifully when not flanked by DBK.
I'm happy that a Republican was "plugged in Florida" but unsure why s/he chose to reveal that detail.
Hey kids, I'm not from your country; I don't quite get it:
Extending voting hours means more people are able to vote yeah? How is it better for the Democrats? Wouldn't it mean more people from both parties can vote? Am I dumb?
bazz, our elections take years here, each state has different rules, each county has different ballots and rules, and we change the rules just in case nobody is paying attention without really talking about it.
Just think of us as the Soviet Union of voting, ok?
I hope Crist used protection. You don't know where Florida has been.
bazz @26,
In poor areas of the US (thus, areas likely to vote Democrat) it's very common for those counties or precincts to not have enough staff or equipment to make voting convenient on election day. Many people would show up, see a 3-4 (or more) hour wait and just leave, because they had to go back to work. This is seen by many as an intentional voter supression strategy, so those D voters in poor areas are less likely to vote. Yes, intentional or not, this is shameful.
Therefore, when people can vote early, you're more likely opening things up for those D voters, rather than the R voters.
This has been part of the genius of the Obama campaign, not only getting people registered but pushing early voting wherever possible...
Mr. Poe is gay.
