If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet.
nice to see the younguns quoting harvey milk, even though this all happened long before you were born, mr. poe. i am very much looking forward to this. shall we see it together, you, me and le juif?
Lez do it.
I cannot wait to see this movie.
I saw the trailer before Religulous and I got half way through it before I realized it was Sean Penn.
Gosh, Sean Penn actually looks like he's acting for real again!
Yeah, Sean Penn has lost the hot. He looks like one of those dried apple-face dolls sold at craft fairs.
@ 2: Let's not try to establish a hierarchy of who remembers/was impacted by/can quote harvey milk.
even the trailer was hard to watch...
I was 5 when he was shot. Grew up in the Bay Area. I actually remember it. Somewhere in the back of my mind he was a hero to me while I was growing up.
I am going to be in SF the weekend of the opening. I would love to see it there - but I can't decide if I should - I think I'll start bawling the minute it starts.
I was in high school when Harvey Milk was assassinated. It barely made the news outside of California because it happened only a couple days after the much more dramatic Jonestown mass suicide, which totally dominated the news for months, kinda like the OJ Simpson trial. I didn't really know much about Milk until years later when I came out.
I'm very curious to see this movie.
Oh, good. Van Sant finally put his negligible talent to use.
This movie actually looks pretty great.
i actually smell oscar.
After seeing The Times of Harvey Milk documentary when I was in high school, it inspired me to come out and lit a fire in my heart that still burns strongly today. I cried just watching this preview.
So Gus Van Sant's made a movie about milk. The next logical step is for Todd Haynes to make a movie about ... (drum roll) ... COOKIES!!!
Yay radical gay filmmakers! Yay milk and cookies!
@10: Barely made news? On the contrary. The assisination of the mayor and Harvey Milk made large headlines everywhere.
@13-they have shots for that "fire" now, bob. go see your dr.
well, since his killer used a Twinkie defense, that seems obvious, Mr. Cookie Monster.
Still, interesting how long it took for this film to get made.
Watching the morons protesting it will be even funnier. Spouting their quaint, irrelevant rhetoric as happy "normal" people go to see a movie about a brave man and not care about what the couple two seats down does when out of the theatre.
I had the same reaction, bob.
11: Van Sant is a considerable talent. But thanks anyway for your dumb Internet "opinion."
i got chills from that trailer. penn looks so amazing.
Sean Penn is an amazing actor.
