Meanwhile…

Entering this crime that involves an American (who has German blood), a Brit (who is part Indian), a Congolese gentleman (who is married to a Polish woman), a man from the Ivory Coast (who thinks he is black American), and another man from Southern Italy (who looks like he’s from Northern Italy) is someone from the fiery depths of hell…Diavolo:

Italian prosecutors accused American student Amanda Knox, 21, on Saturday of fatally stabbing her British house mate in a Satanic rite and asked a court to put an alleged accomplice in prison for life, defense lawyers said.

What in the world?

Meanwhile... that chick in Italy that nobody really cares about is something something something satanic.

The rest of the world seems to view American women as completely out-of-control. I would agree, but I'm afraid my girlfriend would beat the shit out of me in reprisal.

OK, I'm officially in the "Amanda is innocent" camp now. Satanist ritual? Yeah, right. This stinks like the Wenatchee sex-abuse ring that wasn't.

The bf had comic books that showed ritual murder = proof?

Somehow I think our English law derived system including "beyond reasonable doubt" is a bit more fair.

i think that the italian prosecution has gone wild on american girls gone wild.

however...is she back to claiming she wasn't there again? i thought she had to retract that initial statement after surveillance footage placed her there at the time of the murder and she changed it to "i there but i was was cowering in the kitchen." what gives?

Yeah, this 'satanic' thing seems to have come out of nowhere.

I wish they were being more transparent with what's happening at the trial.

Of course, this "paper" looks about as reliable as the National Enquirer... Find me a story on that site that ISN'T about chicks or sports.

Who knows...

Well, someone had to kill this poor girl and chances are it was one of the three. Since none of them are turning in the other, it would seem they are all guilty or at least partially guilty.

What is really sad is the fear she is going to have to constantly live with upon returning to Seattle. To know that some creep at the stranger can now follow the "story" as closely as he likes... usually from 10 feet and behind a trench coat and newspaper.

@10: What do you mean, "none of them are turning in the other"? Knox and Sollecito didn't even know Guede, who had a history of breaking into homes armed with a knife, and whose DNA was found all over the body and in the home. From what I've read, it sounds like the most plausible explanation is that he broke into the home and raped, robbed, and murdered the British girl all by himself.

Knox and Sollecito both initially said that they spent the night of the murder together at Sollecito's apartment, and, under interrogation, each admitted that it was possible the other one could have got up in the night, snuck out, and murdered Knox's flatmate. But that doesn't indicate that they're guilty.

And, yes, I'm following this, and I care, because I'm horrified by the way Amanda Knox and her boyfriend are being treated.
