Let Palin be Palin…

posted by on October 6 at 15:57 PM

…but not on SNL.

It’s looking more and more likely that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will appear on ”Saturday Night Live”—to have some fun with Tina Fey….

While next weekend’s ”Saturday Night Live” will be a rerun, it is possible Palin could appear Thursday on the first of NBC’s ”Weekend Update” specials in prime time. Otherwise, the next orginal “SNL” show will be broadcast Oct. 18, a little more than two weeks before the election.

Tina Fey as Palin? Funny. Palin as Palin? Not funny.

Palin is no Hilary Clinton. She visited Amy Poehler with grace and hilarity......Palin will be awkward, stupid, and awkward.

Don't worry babe

This would be really awkward considering that Tina Fey is openly supporting Obama.

Oh, I don't know - I see lots of potential for Palin to (once again) make a complete ass of herself on national TV.

I'm imagining an updated version of the "Dueling Brandos" sketch from the early days, wherein Belushi and Peter Boyle traded off choice quotes, something like that.

Actually, a Palin versus Palin debate sketch would be hilarious - if in fact a veritable train-wreck of epic proportions.

if fey had any sense she'd say no. that always makes the real person more likable.

Actually, if Palin had any sense she'd say no. The pandering to Joe six-pack is already backfiring. I have a hard time watching candidates on SNL and Ellen. It makes me lose respect for them a little. Palin doesn't have much further to go.

One condition: metal detectors at the door to keep out her accursed flute.

Dan, seriously, you WANT Palin to do this. It's visually nauseous, but self-imploding for the GOP camp.

This would leave her so wide open for attacks by the Obama/Biden camp. "While Palin was busy defending herself from Tina Fey,...". It would hurt so good.

The sad part is the being so closely associated with Mrs Palin may affect Tina's career. I can just see the encyclopaedia 200 years from now (assuming anyone can still read): "FEY, Tina: Comedienne now remembered chiefly for her uncanny portrayal of Republican politician Sarah Palin (q.v.) ... "

You could not call SNL cutting edge, but Palin's barely worthy of Hee Haw.

Sarah honey, Comedy 101: You can't laugh at your own jokes.

I promise, right now, to be very supportive of Tina Fey! I suspect that Seajay is right. But because Tina is hitting it out of the park every single time, I bet she'll get plenty of other fabulous gigs. Damn, she's good.

Well, she just signed a book deal worth $5 million, @20 and 17. Her show 30 Rock is a hit and she's already won 2 Emmys for it, one just a couple of weeks ago

I think Tina should be invited to appear on some serious news show, unscripted, and participate in news analysis. Maybe Rachel Maddow's TV show. I don't know if she's up to it (and I'll bet her schedule is insanely busy these days), but it would be funny to see her, out of character, talking pro-Obama points.

Imagine how odd it must be seeing an insane person that looks like you on the news all day. I hope she's getting big bucks for the SNL stuff.

I can't remember source exactly, but I had heard rumors that Palin was to imitate Fey in her American Express commercials. While I'm no fan of Palin, that could be a great irony, a Republican mocking a credit card ad.
